Sorry for the crappy pic. Don't even remember when or how I got them, but they are 5 one oz .999 fine coins in a blue velvet box. I know what the price of silver is, but any clue as where to find the collectors value, if any?

Although I've been a coin collector for over 30 years, I am no expert, but the value is mainly for the spot price of silver and maybe to someone who would collect S&W items. Coins generally have to have some monetary value affixed to them for them to have "value". In reality, these are nothing more than fancy stamped rounds(as they are called). Any good reputable coin dealer would give you a more definitive answer but my guess is that it would be the spot price of silver.

I agree with Keith. Probably put the set around $150 for a shop to buy. Maybe $175 on the retail market

I don't mean to sound flippant about it but, the collectors value is whatever an S&W collector is willing to pay at a given time. Does it have a COA (certificate of authenticity) stating that it actually was issued by S&W and not some 3rd party "Franklin Mint" type source?

In my opinion, any possibility of it having any additional value beyond silver spot price, will depend on if it was an official S&W release and a COA to prove it.

I hear you on the collectors value. I believe it does have a S&W card that came with it. I thought maybe I'd get pointed to a site that specialized in stuff like this.

On a side note, I dug an old wrapped up Levi poster a few years ago and found Levi has department person dedicated to collector/historic items. It was/is worth about $2500 according to them and the pics I sent.

Today's silver spot price indicates the melt value wold be about $162. for the set. A quick check of the S&W accessory catalogs over the last 20 yrs. of the 20th century does not show any listing of this set being available through S&W stores, so it must have been a project of a licensed vendor. Unfortunately, due to management changes. etc. , staff at the factory today has zilch knowledge of what vendors sold what ,in the past. Does the "card" with the set give a clue as to who produced the set? Quite a few private mints produced numerous commemorative coin sets of all types in the last 40 yrs. Coin dealers give them zero value above melt value, however. Ed.
