First, clean the 15-Sport. Bring your cleaning kit to the range. Bore guide, carbon fiber cleaning rod, patch holder tip, brush, jag, and lube. You'll need 135 rounds of brass cased 5.56.

  • Shoot 1 round, then clean. Repeat for 10 rounds.
  • Shoot 2 rounds, then clean. Repeat for 20 rounds.
  • Shoot 5 rounds then clean. Repeat for 25 rounds.
  • Shoot 10 rounds, then clean. Repeat for 30 rounds.
  • Shoot 50 rounds, then clean.

Just joking. :p

There is some of the wicked barrel seasoning voodoo floating around on the internet. I've even seen a similar process advocated on the On-Target AR-15 Assembly/Disassembly DVD. I can understand performing a crazy process like that with a long-range, bolt action, sniper rifle or similar.

I broke in my barrel by shooting it. I shot 40 rounds slow-fire. When I got home, I cleaned & inspected it.

No, mines still a virgin :)
Thought it odd a firearms maker would have those steps like JaPes posted.
