S&W vs Glock

Those issues were solved almost a year ago. The new design recoil spring ended the problem, which was short lived.

Hmmm....I'm still reading comments about brass to face. Maybe those are with older guns, I don't know. I haven't really been following the issue, since I've come to accept that Glocks (other than the 36) just don't feel good in my hand...not even the Gen4 models.

I'd rather have the M&P45c than the Glock 36, since it feels more comfortable and carries two more rounds. I'm patiently waiting for the Shield .45!

Two words: Ford, Chevy

I am not disagreeing with that, but,,,,,,,,,,,

I can be accurate with a Glock 17, even when months pass without practice.

I much prefer a 629 feel in my hand, but, I find myself squinting while trying to find the sights on the 629, if I want to be accurate.

I have shot the 629 30 to 50X more rounds than the Glock.

I can not explain it. For me, it just is.

My "go to" plinker is the 629, my truck gun is the Glock.

Out of the box, I like the Glock trigger better than the M&P's trigger. Aside from that, I like the M&P better in every other aspect. I just wish S&W would reduce the trigger pull to 5 lbs, but really I would love a 4 lbs pull. Once I get the apex trigger kit installed, I'm going to fall in love with this gun. I will admit that my EDC gun is a Ruger SR9c. It fits my hand better than the m&p 9c, and right out of the box, the SR9c (in my opinion) has a pretty nice trigger pull. I sold all of my Glocks. I haven't looked back.

I'm looking forward to the Shield .45 too. I may very well buy one too. I agree with you.

I've got the Shield 9, M&P 9 & 45, they are all good guns. I have found both brands have their advantages over each other.

If you ask me, the big weakness for Glock is having too buy a different barrel to shoot lead through, that's a P poor design plan. I have threaded after market comp barrels for mine, but it's not an expense the buyer should be forced to spend if he reloads IMO.

I've owned two Glocks, the G17 9mm and G27 .40. Both were great Guns. I never felt comfortable using the G27 for carry. 2 months ago I saw the Shield .40. Once I held it I knew I needed to get one. After I shot it, I kew I had the right pistol for me. 2 days ago I picked up a new M & P .40 fs. I am now a M& P fan

I have a Glock 19, a Glock 26. and a Shield 9mm. I love all three of these guns and I shoot them all equally well. One thing I did have to do was put the Truglo fiber optic night sights on all three pistols. I wouldn't part with any of them.

I'm tired. I simply don't feel like having this discussion. So, I will point out that to me, the M&P fits my hands better. That said, Glock has a better "system" in place. More armorer's classes, readily available parts, sights of different heights, and MAGAZINES. Until S&W can get its supply chain in better shape, the M&P just doesn't work for me. Magazines are just not available and although if you get to the right person, they will insist they have sights of differing heights, they are apparently impossible to get, unless you are a big agency. And then there is the matter of sight adjustment and replacement, which is very difficult with the M&P. We read of problems on here all the time. And then there is the lingering issue with the "tampon" inside the trigger return spring. I want the M&P to succeed and it has made great inroads, but mostly because it is "Made in the USA," not because it is markedly better. That long term test of the M&P pretty well proves the point - the M&P had a crack that took it out at under 70,000 rounds. There are plenty of Glocks around that have exceeded 250,000 rounds. Both numbers may be way in excess of what most people shoot, but the point is still that the Glock 17 seems to be the one to beat. And if you cannot beat them, then you had better bring something else to the table. For me, the on board tool and the ability to field strip without pulling the trigger is not enough, nor are the interchangeable grip inserts or the ambi- features. The one place the M&P really shines, in my opinion is in the .45 ACP category. If there is a less comfortable gun than the Glock 21/20, it is hard for me to find it. The M&P .45 ACP is a fantastic size and it feels great. There is just no comparison between the .45 ACP models - the M&P wins hands down.

For most purposes, both guns are fine. I just wish M&P mags and parts were more readily available. The price per mag on the M&P is outrageous compared to Glock mags also.

So, with a little tweaking, and a ramp up in production of mags, parts and some other things, the M&P would be even better than it is.

Just my opinion.

Yeah but Shawn on the flip side there are Glocks that don't make it 50 rounds before they break. My Brother-in-law bought a G27 years ago and the guide rod snapped before he was done with his 1st box of ammo. He put a steel or titanium, I cant remember which, guide rod in it, promptly sold it, and swore them off forever. I've been trying to break that wall down for several years now. That said I have never put ANY weight in those long term, high round count, no cleaning gun tests. It simply isn't how any of my, or anyone I know for that matter, guns are going to go through life. Every single person I now shoots their guns then cleans and lubes them, after a range day. I don't know any body who shoots hundreds or thousands of rounds with out cleaning and lubing their guns. I am of course speaking in general to how most of these tests are carried out, and do not know the details of the exact on you mentioned. As for the ambi-controls you would appreciate them a whole lot more if you were left handed like me. The ONLY firearm I have no problem with not being ambidextrous (safety aside) is the 1911. the mag release is situated in such a way that it is very easy for a left handed person to actuate it with their trigger finger.

Telling the truth I cannot decide which pistols I like better my Glocks or my S&W M&P's. Only place the Glock eeks out a win with me over the S&W M&P is the G 21 45acp and I like the S&W M&P 45!
