S&W Walther Divorce?

I think that this is a good business move for S&W. IMHO, Walther firearms have never been the best designs or quality. They are eclipsed by other manufacturer's competing products.

I have the "S&W" SW99 in 45 ACP---I am not orig. owner so where does that leave me? Fine pistol, by the way.

This has been discussed on the Walther Forum too.

Smith and Wesson to no longer be the importer for Walther arms - WaltherForums

I own a S&W PPK in .32 ACP and it has been flawless for me. And I did NOT send it back to the amateur gunsmiths in Maine for their "upgrade".:(

I also own a Walther P99 that has worked well. My opinion the Walther divorce is a GOOD thing for S&W. Now that S&W has the M&P semi-auto, there is no reason to continue the relationship with Walther. Be warned, however. If you need repair work on a Walther, the S&W gunsmiths have already started to reduce the quality and effort being done on repairs.

My M&P "Walther" still unfired 22 days. I have a very good dealer so I'm not sure just what I'm going to do with mine after reading about this.. part's will become more scarce by the day. I have enough old pistols of top brand makers that parts are not available for.. Ya I can get them if I hunt them down.. Mags for one gun used $75 bucks +shipping for a idea.. I got this M&P because it was one of the Best brand names in guns and I wanted a new 22 that I could get parts for here in the good old USA.. I been in the same boat with other things that need repair or parts and the maker decided to drop out of doing what they did for years only to keep there name and continue with another product.. If all this is true it's going to really suck because it only gets worse for parts or accessories with pricing for the Smith &Wesson "Walther made M&P 22 is going to be through the roof and that's only if you can get them.... I know I'm just sounding off a bit, sorry.. George
