Happy Independence Day!

Kind of a melancholy Sabbath here, after reading about the passing of misswired. I'm not sure why, but I certainly enjoyed the fishing posts, and his blind friend that he carried fishing. He also lived in Alabama and was almost a neighbor.

Today is Independence Day for the USA, and it seems to be a precarious holiday these days.

Lots of fireworks in the neighborhood last night, at least that's what the MBH said. We prayed, I said good night and that's all I remember, except for one small outburst of fireworks.

I hope you had a great week, the MBH received a good report on her eye, even though she did get another shot in it. If she is still feeling better the upcoming week, I'm gonna follow up with the Doc about getting this (nagging pain) hernia repaired. Only one of us is allowed to be sick at any given time, :-), so my turn is coming up, as soon as she feels better.

I really need to spend some time at the range, it's kinda like playing music, it's good for what ails you. This morning would be a great day, it was 60° when I went outside and calm, it's only 69 degrees now.

Ya'll have a blessed Sabbath and Independence Day, keep the Tums handy in case you indulge in to much BBQ.

Leon

P.S. All you guys and gals that have those beautiful BBQ revolvers and gun belts, you can wear them all day today. :-)

This morning the birds are having a singing contest. None of the neighbors are mowing and there is a nice breeze keeping me and my wife cool on the back deck.

The flag is getting ready to go on display again and it looks to be another beautiful day in the sunny South. The temperature is extremely nice for this time of year in our neck of the woods.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th!

Bamabiker, I would go with the rig in the middle but, they all look great!

Good Sabbath Leon,

We had great temps for our walk this morning. We have been blessed with good rains too.

Our neighbor returned safely this morning from his deployment in Okinawa. His lovely wife and three kids are so happy this morning. Please remember our service men and women AND their families.

I shot my first sanctioned (official) 50 yard .22 bench rifle match at our club yesterday. I shot my CZ 452 in the sporter (stock) class. I was nervous as a tom cat in a room full of rocking chairs. To my shock, I finished in first place!

Great fun!

This .22 thing is new to me as I've only shot service type rifles my whole life, mostly job related. I'm having the time of my life with the rimfires.

Quigley's always my shooting partner and behaves well wearing his headphones.

Wishing all a great Independence Day! Don't give up praying for our country!

Good morning and Happy Independence Day to all! As I used to say in my lectures to high school children in the Civics and Law Academy, on this day in 1776 men of substance, education and property pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to establish our country as an independent nation. By signing the Declaration of Independence, they risked all they had and literally signed their own indictment for treason if the Revolutionary War was lost. I always enjoyed teaching that to the school kids.

To get this day started, I made a pot of Freedom Fuel Coffee from Black Rifle Coffee Company, a veteran owned business. I think I will go to a range today and make some of my own fireworks.

Everybody enjoy this day and what it represents.

Had some extra celebrating to do this Independence Day. For her birthday this weekend, my eldest granddaughter and her boyfriend came down from NY to visit us.

We took them up to our favorite mountain chapel, which set the stage for what happened later.

He proposed ... and she accepted. :)

They have a lot of fun together. He's a Marine, and a great guy that treats her very well.

a day to celebrate the Declaration of Independence.. the really hard part followed.. when Patriots risked all in the fight against an imperial tyrant that wanted to over tax and disarm the "subjects"... remember always those that stand and defend the constitution.. they deserve it.

p.s. you know why there are no knock knock jokes about American freedom & independence...

FREEDOM RINGS...

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July. Special thanks to the veterans for your service!
Hard to believe that it's that cool down South. 91f yesterday and today with high humidity to boot.
Grocery store has fresh Georgia sweet corn for sale. Gonna grill some with split chicken breasts for supper. We won't have local sweet corn for at least another month here....love my grilled corn and a cool one for wash.

Special day for me in several ways .First my grandparents were married on this day in Beatrice, Nebraska. My father came a year later. None of my family has served in military since the Civil War till I went in in 1951. None since either. I wish a very happy 4th to all my friends here on the Forum. God Bless America.

Always good to see your Sabbath Day post's.

Spent yester evening with the Great grand Children, two of the celebrating their B'days at the same time.

Had a nice service at church today. Was able to hear the SS Teacher (hearing aids work great).

Later this evening there were lots of fireworks in and around my neighborhood, otherwise all quiet.

Hope all have a blessed and safe week.

Happy Independence day to one and all.
