Say what you will about the South...

I'm not moving any further north than I-20 and would prefer to be south of I-10.

That said, if I offended anyone, I apologize.
Nah... it's cool. :) I knew you were just braggin a little about where you live. Sometimes I hear the term Yankee here in SC, and I just don't have a frame of reference. My people landed on Ellis Island in the 1890's and stayed in Brooklyn.
To me Yankee is a team and Damn Yankee is when they lose. ;)

Oh, I thought of something else

They've moved a lot of the attractions that used to be at Coney Island to a park near there. A friend just got back from there and said that it's not as clean as Disney World but it's a lot cheaper.

We are to far South, I want to go back up to "semi" North not WI or MN but N Carolina, TN or even North Florida:D

I had my share of -20F and snow for 6 months.

We we do, I am gonna drive slow in the left lane with my turn single on for sure!

As much as I like Texas the wife is from Florida and it has been her wish for us to retire there, probably next spring. She has put up with me and my state for more years than I care to remember so some time next year it looks like I'm going to have to pick a new college team to root for. We have two grown kids living in Pensacola so I imagine that area will be home. One works for a large law firm there and the other is retired Air Force. Both shoot regularly too.

I have traveled to a lot of places, never seen one that I clearly preferred to Minnesota. I could live in northern California, and just about any place from the Rockies on west. Never saw anything in Texas that made me want to live there (and I have never been there in summer) or any place east of the Mississippi.

Wait, I live east of the Mississippi, but not so far east I can't cross it in 20 minutes. I guess I could tolerate Sconny, too, and the UP.

Have you ever spent time in, Big Bend or East Texas? Thems are some pretty places. :D

Born a Texan, Die a Texan!!!!!!!
Lone Star State, Bigger, Better and the Best
Enough Said.

But there ain't nothing in Waxahachie. I had a brother that lived there for a time.

I consider SC to be part of the South... :D

Yeah, I have been to Big Bend. It's a cool place and a great place to ride. Perfect to stop and spend a couple of days on the way to Mexico. A nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

There's lots of pretty places in most of the places I wouldn't want to live.

Well, I'm retired and have not plans to relocate! Think I'll just lay right here!

Daughter got transferred to Powder Springs, nice place to visit, but the people are not very receptive, but I could move anywhere in the world if I had a dollar for every time I was asked "you ain't from around here are ya"

Had a friend that was born and raised in Florida. He told me if he could have but one wish it would be that air condition was never invented. When I inquired why, he said all the transplants in florida would move back up north and the good old days would return. Go figure?

Western Pennsylvania ...... "The Burgh" is not a bad place to live......

no earthquakes, mud slides, Forest fires, hurricanes......... few tornadoes.... the only flooding is if you are within the narrow flood plains along streams and rivers.....maybe 2 "heavy" snowstorms a year which are cleaned up or gone in 2-3 days..... an ice storm every 2-3 years.....again impact is 24-48hrs............few days of 90 degrees plus..... fewer days below zero......

That said we could use a few more sunny days.........a bit muggy time to time in the summer....... but not like the deep south ......... we have AC ....... and even better we have the mountains and forests to retreat to.........I've got a big oak tree next to the cabin that always has a nice breeze blowing by............................and in the evening we are still allowed to sit around a nice outdoor fire pit in the summer or have a wood burning fire place Oct to April........

There are lots of reasons "The Burgh" has been named the most livable city more than once...... plus we got the Steelers Pens and Pirates.......
I drove from the Pittsburgh airport to Warren, Ohio for the first time last week. It was gorgeous in that area. :)

Precisely the point. For good old year-round everyday livability, Western Oregon is hard to beat; for me most other places are too far from either the ocean or the mountains; here I'm within less than two hours drive of both.

But that doesn't mean I don't enjoy other places. For over 30 years I've needed to head down to California and Nevada for my regular fix of the Mojave desert and the Eastern Sierra, whenever "green and verdant" up here got a bit too much. I've even spent a summer in Death Valley. But that doesn't mean I'd ever want to make my home there.

Well, that was just plain rude......

About a month after moving down south, we were at a dinner party. One of the locals, after hearing where I was from said, "we don't give a d*** how you did it up north." To which I politely replied, "I'll not waste my time telling you how we did it, because you'd screw it up anyway." Never did like that guy.

The proper situation for saying that is when somebody asks you how to do something and when you answer they start talking about how it was done 'elsewhere'..... THEN the response is "We don't give a ......" And that is NOT rude. Just the truth.:D

We moved from NYC to Louisiana back in 1996. And for years after that people would say "you ain't from around here" now after almost 20 years down here don't hear that saying much anymore. Frank
