I have seen many posts on the scam artists on the gun sale sites.
I had one recently and thought that I would share.
I found one of the revolvers that I have been looking for.
There it was, it was real late on a Friday night. I really wanted it, so I bid on it.
I get up the next morning, to find out that I had won the revolver.
After really looking at the item again, I see that it was only a 1 day auction. I knew that the seller had a zero rating. I am thinking why would one sell an expensive S&W revolver with a 1 day auction. One would want to get the most they could get out of a revolver like this.
After looking at the pictures again, I am thinking "where have I noticed these pictures before?".
I looked through old auctions on another site. Sure enough, there it was. It sold in January of
this year.
I downloaded the pictures, and did a comparison, and they were exactly the same pictures.
I contacted the seller and asked for the serial number for my FFL, and asked him if I could come pay him in person, and we could ship the revolver at that time.
I contacted the web site, and they got back to me on Monday, and said that it is no doubt fraud, and that they were looking into it.
Never heard back from the seller after asking for the serial and if I could pick it up.
Thought that I would post this. In this day and age, you just never know. Be careful, don't get ripped off.
