Subtract the almost 3,800 virus deaths that NYC lied about, but it's still a terrible loss.
Long way to go to hit 55 million.
Almost the same loss as Gettysburg in three days.

I saw something scary in the paper today. In Texas, 42% of the deaths attributed to the virus were elderly residents of nursing homes and similar collective senior living institutions. I would imagine that nationwide and worldwide, the proportion is close to that. Seems to me that the national death rate could have been greatly lowered if there were methods and practices developed to better protect senior citizens from infection.

About the same number as influenza and car accidents. The hysteria is just because of how the deaths are being presented to us by the media. I have never before heard of car accidents and influenza deaths being compared to war deaths. I wonder why? The TV is a bad teacher.

We are a generally older bunch of folks with plenty of pre-existing conditions among us. Any spouses have it? Confirmed cases only please, not just those thinking they might have had something at one point, but got over it (whatever it was) and were never tested.

With all due respect,arjay,how can you be amazed at the panic initially caused by exaggerated models based on no facts but purely supposition or the MSM not waiting for facts but instead deciding to flame the fears of an uninformed public?
The public wants and needs information but when that information is discounted by experts supposedly as knowledgeable as their counterparts what are you going to believe? Can't blame people for denying what they've been told or at least taking it with a grain of salt.
Let's get through this for now and quit believing that there is a second wave coming with no evidence to base it on.

I'm sorry but to me it's sad and almost a dishonor to compare the lives of those lost in battle to those from a Flu.
Here's the scary part. Where is this pressure coming from where doctors are listing deaths as chicom virus related even when the individual hasn't tested positive, only shown to have similar symptoms?
How about the push to recruit nurses from around the country to go to NYC to assist - they have been and are now being paid and lodged at FEMA expense and for the most part not being called in. Why the Navy ship with 1,200 beds and staffed not utilized when the fake news was screaming about overworked staff in hospitals - Central park and various tennis arenas around the area set up with thousands of beds and fully staffed, they weren't used.
The video on UTube where two California doctors were talking about California deaths and the number of people being tested positive for the "antibodies" coming to the conclusion the death ratio was 0.03% and stated they were treating chicom virus patients and felt pressure to record all deaths as virus related, when they weren't. That video was taken down - why? Maybe due to the money the Fed's are handing out to the hospitals treating chicom virus patients? - I think it's $19,000 per patient and $38,000 if placed on a ventilator.
Will we ever know the truth about why all this has come about and the numbers associated with it?

I don't know, maybe its just me, but when 58,000 + Americans die of anything in a two month span, its notable.
