The one and only. Pre lock 629PP.

It had a 2 lb single action trigger and was capable of the same accuracy as the Mini-14 I owned at the time with the same optic. I no longer own either.

Good question. Some don't seem to get the implied covenant here that Smith & Wesson rules. Nice Contender.

Well the thread title is "scoped handgun picture thread", it says nothing about S&W or revolvers... I of course posted my scoped S$W revolver first however! :D

Mount rings are loose - they await a drop of rubber cement (Adds friction yet peels away.). Most of my 629s' life is spent with wood grips, iron sights, and launching .44 Specials and Russians.

Some may not be aware, but T/C products including my Encore are now made by S&W.
It says "Made by S&W" right on the frame and has a Smith style serial #.
The lockwork has been slightly redesigned as well.
It is very similar to the old rebounding hammer guns now.
As heavy as the springs are, I am amazed at how good the trigger is.

Only photo I have of my Model 41 7 inch tube, Conetrol mount, Leupold 2x scope. This from my friend first time shooting at all. Winter in Alaska. I told her to dress well for going to the shooting club...and she did for a club. Good sport though and we just kept the car running and the heater on high. She now has a couple of her own firearms.

Here's my model 53 in 22 Remington Jet. The guy I bought it from claimed he used it for coyote hunting. I've fired it a few times at my gun club and it shuts down the range each time! I have the invoice for the revolver and the previous owner bought it used in 1977 for $402.

That's real old school. I believe that is a Bushnell Phantom scope and mount. One of the first handgun scopes available anywhere. The first of those go back to the '70's, possibly the late '60's. State-of-the-Art back in the day.

My revolvers all wear iron sights so this is the best I can offer.

The XP is an XP-100R, the repeating version that was only made in 1998, the last year of XP production, and is chambered in .223REM with a Burris 3-12x scope with an adjustable objective. The Contender is a first generation Super 14 in 7mmT/CU with a Leupold 4x scope. I also have 14" .223REM and 7-30 Waters barrels for it.

That's exactly the way I bought it. If I was going to do some hunting with this gun I'd probably put a newer scope on it. For now I'll just leave it as a kind of time capsule.

Scoped S&W mod. 14-4 8 3/8" K38

I finaly gave in and dug out an old Bushnell Phantom scope mount, a #76-1922- #2 S&W. It is designed for mounting a scope without drilling, and tapping the frame of the revolver, using the sight mounting screw hole, and the rear sight dovetail. I think it was designed to be used with .22 revolvers, but, does not say that. Many years ago I used it on a mod 17 K22 Master piece, with good success. So I thought I would give it a try on my S&W mod 14-4 8 3/8" K 38, using a Redfield 2x LER 3/4" tube scope & mounts. I have it bore sighted, and ready to try it out, but, weather has been keeping me indoors, and have not tried it. Don't know if the mount will stand up to .38 spl. Here is a picture, I hope. NO! Can't get a picture to upload, Sorry!
