Scored a Victory - (Updated)

I happened to stop by my favorite pawn shop / gun store today on the way home and picked up this victory model they had priced at $175 (no discounts as guns are selling too well now). I felt it was a good deal, even though it is missing the butt swivel and it's original grips. It's a 38 special, serial number 206xxx (all matching) and has the US Property mark on the top strap.

I've always wanted one of these and finallly came across one. Now I have to find a lanyard butt swivel and original style grips. If you have any, let me know!

Well, Apparantly you are not aware that those grips are selling for $200 on Ebay. Good catch.

Nice looking Victory. Original Victory grips can be found for much less the $200 and the grips pictured on the Victory are post-war Magnas, not $200 pre-war Magnas. Post in the Wanted to Buy section for a set of Victory grips. I assume there is a V in front of the serial number. Thanks for showing us you gun. John

Nice find. I would keep the grips that are on there now and find a nice revolver to put them on!

Very nice find, particularly for the $$.
FYI, there are several sets (not mine) of used Victory grips for sale on Gunbroker, along with one or two swivels.

If the lanyard hole hasn't been filled the rings aren't that hard to find. That and original grips and you'll be back close to normal. Did it have any U.S. property markings? I ran into one yesterday that was issued to the Mississsippi Power Co. in WWII without the markings.

The lanyard hole has not been filled it but it will be once I find a lanyard swivel. And, yes, it does have the the US Property mark along the port side of the top strap.

Don't raise your hopes on those grips being worth $200. If they were absolutely mint and unrestored, maybe $125.

I wanted to show the group an updated photo of the Victory model I purchased several weeks ago. As you can see in the original post, the gun was missing the original grips and butt swivel. Well, that has been remedied. I have to give a public "Thank you!" to forum member Lee Barner for the grips he sent me gratis. I very much appreciate it and hope you enjoy the pics Lee. I treasure this gun. Also picked up an original swivel on Gun Broker. This is my first and only Victory model. I find it interesting to see the rough finish and machine marks from wartime production...quite a contrast to my other commercial Smiths. Well, here's the pic:

Very nice Victory, Batex! Lee supplied me with correct grips for my 1st Victory too, and I'll thank him again for his help.

Take that gun to the range and have some fun! By the way, my 2nd (and latest) Victory is as accurate as any gun I own. The finish on these guns is functional. The mechanics are 1st rate.
