SD9VE 16+1 ?? Or 15+1=16

I load 15 rounds because of my OCD. The boxes of ammo I buy have rows of 5 rounds...15 rounds will empty three rows. If I load 16 rounds, it would leave an incomplete row...not empty, not full. :D

I tried to do the math to figure out how many mags I'd have to load with 16 rounds to end up with all empty rows...but I ain't that smart, I guess, so I just load 15. :p

You shoot one box but leave one round. There is your 16th and you have complete rows and a fully empty box

I'm not a very smart, I guess...but I don't get it.

OK, I buy a box of 100 shells. I take out 99 and leave one, and that's 99 to load...my magazines will hold 16 max, so I can load one mag to capacity (16 rounds) 6 times, and that leaves 3 rounds...or I can load 6 magazines to capacity (16 rounds) and that still leaves 3 rounds. Plus, there is still one in the dang box!

Now I have 3 rounds outside the box, and 1 inside...even if I put the 3 rounds back in the box, there will still be an incomplete row.

I can't make it work out with 50 rounds or 25 rounds either...the only way is if I only load 15 rounds at a time. If we was intended to load 16 rounds at a time, they should make 32 round boxes, or 64 round boxes, or 128 round boxes!

4 boxes of ammo.

50 rounds in each box right. Each box makes three 15 round mags (3 rows x 5 bullets). This leaves one row of 5. Now, 3 boxes with one row of 5 makes 15 rounds. So now we have 9 full mags of 15 rounds and all boxes are empty.

4th box. Shoot it and leave 9 rounds. Those 9 get added to each of the 15 round mags. Throw away the empty box.

Ah! You are loading 15 rounds and then shooting some of the ammo...I'm talking about loading 16 rounds in the mags before any shooting commences! If I load 16 rounds before shooting, that's 192 rounds...it's just getting worse! Now I have 8 left over!

(I hope everyone realizes by now that this is all in good fun...I'm not seriously struggling with this! I do, however, like to load my mags with 15 rounds...because there is 5 in each row. Oh heck, here we go again!)

My SD9VE mags were hard to load. Loaded them to 16, left them loaded, shot it a lot and it never got easier. It's technically a 16rd. magazine, but it's stretching it if you ask me. Loading a fully loaded mag is harder than it should be.

The only other gun worse was the G30SF I had. I had lots of 9 and 10 round mags and putting the last round in was a pain. Only way I could have a fully loaded mag in that gun was to put the mag in the grip as far as it could go, grip the gun like a hammer and slam it mag down onto my work bench. I sold that thing ASAP.

I would just load it to 16, rack a round in the chamber and don't bother trying to top it off. No fully loaded mag should be that hard to load in a gun with the slide/bolt closed. If it is, the claimed capacity is at least one more than it should be.

The fix I posted (#9) fixed the problem for me and it only takes a few minutes. I don't understand why people are avoiding such a simple, easy and permanent fix.

Unless the guy in the video is weak, it's obvious that the slide is still dragging on the top round of his modified set-up, just not as bad. I know what he's doing when he's pushing the top round down over and over to get the spring coils to seat, but that shouldn't be necessary either.

I just went by the video to trim it and didn't pay a lot of attention to what he did otherwise. Mine works fine and it solved the problem for me.
