Hey all,

So when I was disassembling my SD9VE, I walked away for a few, came back, and put the slider back on, however, I accidentally forgot to put the spring and barrel back in, and now I can't get the slider off. Can someone please help me in getting it back off?

Thank you,

-Daniel

I've taken some off for people, and basically YOU have to be the spring to push the slide in the right direction while you do everything else the same as if the spring were in. Miss a step, and it won't come off.

Hold the slide where it would be in battery, pull the trigger, move slide back a quarter inch, release slide lock, remove slide, remove er from slider, it's proper name is slide.

Third or fourth one in 4 months- One was going to be taken to a gunsmith.

In the interest of the Newbie gun owner, I think it should be referred to as what S&W calls it; "The Takedown Catch."
Here from their instruction manual page #23,

"While holding the slide back slightly, depress the takedown catch (from both sides of the frame) with your thumb and forefinger (FIGURES 25 & 26)."

Ok Martybee, picking at nits, but I understand. Reading a manual is often considered optional in the owner's mind.

Who remembers the tag that was hanging on the front of all new Tektronix Oscilloscopes?

Hold the slide where it would be in battery, pull the trigger, hear/feel sear release striker & remove slide.

Simplified. ;) No barrel, so need to mess with slide lock tabs.
