Well I just bought my first Smith&Wesson four days ago it was a 686 plus (7round) revolver in .357/.38 special and now today I went to my local shop and came home with an M&P 15 ORC, added Promag rear & Magpul front flip up sights and a 30 round pre ban metal mag :D

NICE !!! If you shoot a lot, that MBUS sight will not last long on that gas block. Ask me how I know ;) I completely warped mine to where it wouldnt even sit right on the gas block. Ended up with a Troy battle sight on the front ...

Thanks for the heads up, I will keep an eye on that. The sights are temporary for now I will be getting some ugraded ones later on, along with a quad rail and a bi-pod four grip.

I have a S & W MP15 decked out pretty good and a 686PP 6" barrel, 6 cylinder. I haven't even had a chance to shoot the AR but have put many rounds through the 686. Great revolver!
I'm sure the AR will be great also.

Magpul Sights for M&P

For what it's worth, Magpul recently came out with some new front and rear sites that are all metal (rather than the plastic) - similar to the Troy Industries iron Battle Sites.

Looks great on both weapons, congrats ! As for myself I opted for the 586 blue version, had one back in the 80's sure glad S&W reintroduced them again in the classic line !!

I have been collecting a lot of older Smith & Wesson revolver for years and have my CCW license but didn't really have a gun to carry (all mine are collectibles) until my Son was robbed and the guy got the drop on him and took his carry gun. Now in the last 2 months I bought a S&W M&P 40, a Governor and a Bodyguard .380. I now carry the M&P behind my back, the Governor loaded with 45LC on my side and the Bodyguard in my front pocket. Any robber who approaches me will serve no time in prison. Guaranteed!!!

If you don't already have a gun safe, when you go to purchase, buy one at least double the size you believe you'll need. You've purchase some fabulous, reliable guns.

I wound up with the exact same ORC model (long story), really wanted the flash hider.

On reflection, and use, I love it. The barrel is a semi-heavy straight configuration, measures 17", so gives a bit more velocity than the shorter ones.

It seems to have less muzzle blast without the flash hider, and I doubt that I will be in any situattion, where a bit of flash will be a negative.

I have a stash of 40 year old US M193, and the rifle will consistently shoot 1 1/4" groups with it. Using a Leupold VX-1 2 X 7 scope.

Added a bunch of P mags, and life is good.
