The above is on the left side of 3.25" barrel. On top is "FOR 38 SMITH & WESSON CTGS".
Serial number on barrel, above the five shot cylinder and on trigger guard, 6239.
Trigger guard front, screws in from top. Trigger guard pins in in the rear.
I think it must be early because there are no Patent Dates usually found on top-break revolvers.
I only have barrel assembly and loose trigger guard. I am looking to find out the correct model for these parts.
It may or may not even be a S&W revolver. Thank-You Roger

That looks very much like an H&R in 38 S&W I owned in the early '70s. The top of the barrel was marked identically, and the serial number was on the trigger guard and bottom of the butt. I don't believe there were any markings on the sides of the barrel.

You have a "various manufacturer" revolver marketed by Fred Biffer out of Chicago. His trade name is Secret Service Special ( a marketing ploy…was never issued to the U.S. Secret Service.

I had one marked just like that in 38 s&w that was made by Hopkins & Allen. Fooled me for a Smith for several years until I dug into the history. Never to old to learn. Reading this forum every day makes you think more each day as you get older.
