Serpa for 3rd gens

Blackhawk only makes the Serpa for the 5900 and 4000 series pistols. I wish they would make one for more models.

does anyone have a single stack 4013 and a serpa holster for the 4006 that they could try the fit and respond back to us??? I contacted Blackhawk and the reply was no it would not fit...courious to try it though.

The 5900 series will work with the 3913. I use a 5900 series SERPS with my cs9 and 6906 and it is fine

I wonder if the Beretta 92/96 holster would fit the large frame 3rd generation guns. Since finding any dedicated large frame 3rd generation holster is about like finding the holy grail anymore, we have found that Beretta 92/96 holster to be a good match.

That would solve the problem of the orginal 4013 too. Might be a bit long, but, doable .

Tomorrow, I'll see if my 1006 fits my 92 Serpa...

The only difference between my Serpa and the standard version is that I heated/clamped it so that I could fit my Brigadier. If the top of the slide touches the holster, and it is close to fitting, someone with an unmodified Serpa will have to confirm it... unless someone tries it between now and then.

I tried it before going to work...

It kind of fits, but it is extremely tight. I think I did get the trigger guard to lock into the release, but that is the area where it was tight. Took a lot of effort to get the pistol back out of the holster.

Being I didn't have a lot of time, I did not try loosening the screw near the lock, which may have given me some more clearance (at the same token, I wouldn't want to carry it in that way). Like I mentioned, I already modified the holster to fit my Brigadier... so, I'm not going to mess around even more to fit the 1006.

Many times 3913's fit well into Sig 239 holsters. Worth a try...

Thanks Screwball. Guess we need an unaltered Serpa 92/96 Beretta holster to try, with a 3rd. generation, large frame weapon. Maybe someone else has both the holster and the 3rd generation gun, to be able to adjust it for proper fit.

And too, it just may not work, at all.

I have put a 5903 into a SERPA rig for M-9 and it DOES fit, but you have to remove the tension screw, not just loosen it.

In regards to fitment, the tightness came from the thickness of the trigger guard. There wouldn't be a difference between the stock Serpa and what I modified.

What squidsix pointed out should work, but I am not using it in that configuration.

Anyone know if you can get one of the Serpa holsters for a 3913 or a 4013??

TD

If you're looking for a "push-button" style retention holster, but don't HAVE to get the Serpa, you can do what I did...

Just to play around with, I got one of those "Israeli Tactical Retention Holster" from CDNN for $17.

I had seen the Youtube video on modifying the Sig 226 version of this holster to fit the S&W 5906, so I thought I would try the same process for the model 59. (You can find it on Youtube by searching "S&W 5906 cheap trick").

Well, it's really easy to do, and it works fine...for both the M59 AND the 3913!

So, anyone with either of these pistols looking for an inexpensive kydex retention holster, there you go!

PS. I'm still going to get the Serpa at some point.

My 5900/4000 series SERPA Level II works OK with my 3913NL but its a little sloppy due to the sloped dust cover. It works perfectly on my 6906 so I would assume it would work great with a standard 3913. I believe the width of the slide and the height of the frame/trigger guard are the key, so since most of the 9mm/.40 3rd gens they are all pretty much the same it should work fine.

Not really familiar with the 4013, but I have also modified another 5900 SERPA to work with 10 and full size frames. I removed the spring loaded piece that bears against the dustcover and then I took a standard Dremel sanding drum and reamed out the end where the bottom of the slide passes through the end of the holster. The sanding drum is almost exactly the same radius as the bottom of the slide. The slide is a little wider on the 10mm/.45's so it will be a little snug. Works decent for my applications which are hunting and IDPA/USPSA competition. It does leave the muzzle exposed and I suppose depending how you drew the weapon you might hang the front sight, so I can't say I'd recommend it for CCDW.
