Sgt. Mike Viet Nam Humor

Not VN era humor, but seemed appropriate…View attachment 762219
My first 3-bottle encounter with the Boone's Farm, was also my last. Woke up the next morning, head was throbbing, drank a big glass of cold water, then there was stars. I have never drunk the stuff since.

Dr Welby is wrong, I had Covid, in the hospital for four days -- 3 days on oxygen and came home with no side effects. Two months later had very bad body and joint aches for four days. Went to bend one night in terrible pain, woke up the next morning feeling perfect. No muscle or joint aches at all.

There is nothing like drinking a typhoon fifth of Akadama Port wine. It is a really sweet red wine. After a while you get tunnel vision, then progress to no vision. Don't ask me how I know.
Oh the fun we had.

Have several funny Boones farms stories that can not post here. Had 2 bottles when I went to basic. Sgt. at reception told everybody to put all “ contraband” in large garbage can. I thought most would be booze put all types of knives showed up, there was a bottle of Crown Royal too!

Vietnam was my introduction to store bought liquor. Only thing we had back in
the "World" was homemade stuff. One uncle made Shine and another
made wine. I soon found out that one could be fooled by the
lesser burn of Jim Beam. The end result was the same as my uncle's
finest shine and tasted a lot better. But as they say, "that's another story".

When we got to P.I. at 0430 we were hustled into an empty barracks. I was there with guys from NY and NJ. The told us to turn out pockets inside out and put all weapons in the trash can. When they got to me all I saw was a lot switchblades, straight razors, a zip gun, and several chains. I was wondering what I got myself into. They turned out to be some of the nicest people I met in the Corps.

Give him my best, P.I. or San Diego. It was 60 years ago for me on March 23rd. Keep your head down and do what you are told. Worked for me and got me promoted out of boot camp.
I don't think it's the same as it was "back in the day" or the "old Corps".
Oh the fun we had

Also made E-2 out of basic but since I got a Army drivers license during basic I was a company driver and missed the 5 mile march with pack and weapons. First day of basic senior DI asked for drivers. Dad told me never volunteer for anything so I did not raise my hand. My platoon DI knew I grew up on a farm driving everything so he leaned over and told me to raise my hand. I did and was told to fall out on a PFC. Went to the lamest drivers test I’ve ever seen but was one of best things I did.Drove every vehicle we had in AIT as well as “ fixing “ them. Got to drive all around Vietnam the next year, lol.

Forgot to ad, the next day at morning formation top drill Sgt. asked for more drivers. About 20 hands went up. He said fall out on the PFC and you all can drive the wheelbarrows and operate shovels to move 2 huge piles of sand about 20’. I had to bite my tongue to keep from laughing as those that did laugh got dropped for 50 push ups, LOL
