Kevin, I should add that I have yet to shoot this revolver. My guess is that a 6 o'clock hold will shoot low. I don't know if a center hold will bring impact up high enough, or if I'll need to use a combat hold. Your observation is correct, somewhat. It's not as tall as it may appear in relation to the elevated rear sight, as installed. Compared to non-modified sights, like on this .44 HE, 2nd Model, yes... the front sight is tall.

When I first got my model 63 I had a hard time seeing the stainless front sight so sent it down to Clements and had a blued one put on thanks for the idea Mr. Quinn.

Here is a better image of the sight in post 27,

I believe it is the original 1/2 moon and base that has been reshaped, filed and had a gold bead installed. Than, the based was radiuses and sweated onto the shortened barrel. A first class job, in my opinion.

All sorts of interesting shapes and materials here. I'll toss this in, the front sight on this Triple Lock is very tall to go with the weird rear sight, true, but even more interesting is the fact the visible face is actually a carbide tooth!
The sight picture is wild, but it's actually rather grown on me.

Mine is a work still in progress. Few months back I got 1905HE
32/20-6.5" that previous owner was in process of customizing into Target model. Front blade had been cut off and base slotted for a blade. The gun has nice job of adj rear milled in and blue job. But they just used a piece on .060 stock for front blade. Besides the square profile there is enough daylight with back sight to drive a truck through.
I made a brass sight from a key. What ever the brass alloy in key is it don't want to black with any chemicals that I have tried. So saw a style I like better and am using steel which will blue. Am going to go with simple round transitioning into flat at rear. Have to guesstimate height to middle of sight in capability.
