A few questions come to mind.

1) Why is it being sold?

2) Am I confident in the fifty round number?

3) Will the seller take $400 for it?

If I didn't already own one and I received good answers to the above, I would probably buy it.

I have a cabelas in Michigan . But can't buy out a state .. I don't think they ship

I bought my barely used 9mm Shield for $350 from a LGS. The price of $450 is in the NIB range. I'd personally pass unless you really want one that badly or you can talk him down to a minimum of $400.

Depends what it is worth to YOU. $449 is MSRP for a new Shield. Doesn't seem right to pay that for a used one. On the other hand, it may be a classic case of supply an demand. I would suggest that if the seller wants $450 for the used handgun, then they provide documentation from a licensed gunsmith saying it is in 100% working order and in like new condition. Otherwise I would start at $375 and let the negotiations begin.

Good luck!

If you wait and buy a new one for the same money it will also be a used gun after you have fired one round out of it. If you are willing to pay $450 for a new one I see no issues with a 50 rd used one at the same price. As long as it has no issues. If you are buying from a private party you have no tax. If it is a gun store you may get them to throw in a box of Critical Defense ammo.

Did the seller already register the Shield with S&W and if the answer is yes, is the warranty transferable to you? Don't think so and you would then have to pay to ship back and for any repairs as well. I bought a 686+ a while back and since I was not the original owner, Smith would not honor the warranty when I had a problem which I subsequently resolved myself. Lastly, $450.00 is too much.

Well, lightly used ones are going for $650 plus on GA forums. I say grab it unless you are a patient person.

Hey guys ..OP posted this in July prior to the price of these Shields going bonkers and he hasn't been active since the end of November.

Right now if you really wanted one and didn't want to wait the 450 would be a good deal. I picked up a Shield NIB in .40 today for 409.99 They had 9's but sold out in record time I guess lol.

Buy it and don't look back. I got the 40 Shield and paid $475 for it from a individual. I'm glad I did. Been looking for one for a long time. There going for $600+ on gun broker.

We have them here in MT. Bought a 40 a few days ago for MSRP and my friend bought one for his wife. Maybe I should purchase a few more.

President Obama has helped us cover all the cost of college less scholarships for year one starting August for our daughter and we are only in January.

Mention gun ban and regulating ammo sales and my Wolf 7.62 x39mm investment went from .08 per round when I purchased a sizable supply a few years back to .40 per round.

It didn't take me long to figure out how to fund the first year of college.

I also sold the SKS today for triple my money.

Everything is for sale if the price is right and I am not going to sit around and wait for congress to make it more difficult to sale guns and ammo especially when profits are through the roof.

Thanks again Pres Obama for helping us fund our daughter's first year of college.

Russ
