Wow, I think I dream about shields now.....not cause I have one, or dream of having one, but cause every other thread here is about this thing.....
You'd think it was a super erectile disfunctional cure, oh wait maybe it is.....
Carry on...

I'm a revolver guy and bought a shield and love it. It's excellent for carry.

What I don't get is all the complaining because people are excited about a gun. Seems rather silly, or envy.

Hey now, it IS pretty exciting! I was in the market for a pocket pistol when this came out, and it fit the bill perfectly! I looked at Kel-Tec, Ruger, Kahr and Walther. The PF-9 felt cheap and uncomfortable in my hand, the LC9 did not allow me to grip the gun well enough, the Kahr had an odd trigger (in my opinion) and was somewhat sharp for my liking, and the Walther just plain cost too much. Those are pretty much the only other polymer framed single stack 9's on the market, a desirable item these days.

The Shield is a very high quality weapon, at LC9 / just a hair above PF-9 prices. That's the biggest selling point in my book! I've been pocket carrying it in a Desantis Nemesis for 2 weeks now, and occasionally popping it into my oooooold Tagua multi-gun IWB holster. I forget it's even there with either holster, and can get an excellent grip on the gun every time.

Wait till it's out in .40 S&W.

For those interested in the Shield .40, I would recommend that you equip it with a TALON granuler Stick-on grip. It's like sandpaper and really grips your hand. The grip improved the hold on my 9mm.

I ISN'T revolutionary at all. It is another quality M&P cut in half. BUT .. somehow S&W managed to maintain the M&P quaulity .. keep the low recoil, excellent follow shots (thing can fire like full auto ..lol) even feels more comfortable in larger hands than the 9c, conceals incredibly well, very accurate .. yet it is more than a $100 less than the larger M&Ps .. is quite a bargain when you really think about it in times when everything else seems to cost more.

I agree with all of you. It's a great gun and deserves some hype but it is a bit annoying having the boards overrun with Shield topics. Especially redundantly redundant ones.

I'm certainly guilt of that. However, a reason for this is the huge volume of people that actually own one - contrasted with Springfield where they have either seen a picture of the XDS or felt a mockup at either SHOT or the NRA show. The other thing is the pistol itself and how reliable and accurate everyone seems to find it. The cool part is the comments for the most part are not speculation, but reality - and therefore meaningful.

One other thing - expect a new wave of Shieldsteria with the .40 cal version now in stores...

OP must be a Kahr PM9 owner. I can see why their panties are twisted. S&W came out with a better gun with a better trigger with an extra round capacity that is just slightly bigger for $250 less.

I thought about a Kahr CM9, and a Bersa Thunder CC, but I waited and then the Shield came out. It was just what I wanted. It fits the bill perfectly.

Here is a photo to tempt you!

I just picked mine up on Monday and took it right to the range. It feels great in my hand and the 8 round mag gives the little finger something to grab. I put 80 rounds through it and was much more accurate out of the box than the LC9 I traded in. I just could not get used to the LONG trigger pull on the LC9. At 10-12 feet I was shooting approx. 4-5" groups around the bulls eye. Not that great (I have only been shooting for 6 months) but REALLY good for me. The trigger felt really good and the sights are good to my eye.

This is it exactly. The Shield is not,and was never intended to be, a full combat sidearm to back up a battle rifle.
I'm pretty excited about it and I'm not easily impressed anymore, and never was much. I think S&W,by taking their time and perfecting this pistol before releasing it,has drilled this market dead center.
They kept it at a price that po' folks can afford and filled a very realistic niche and need for our times.

Mags are kinda high at $37.50 - but I guess I'll have to live with that. I ordered 2 yesterday - once I decide if I want the shorter or longer mags, I'll order some more in the future.

Nope your wrong, I don't own anything but s&w's, and a ruger p90.

I never said the gun wasn't a good gun, I was just voicing my opinion that all I see is shield this, shield that around here.. its like its took over the forum LOL..
That's all..
