Has anyone else polished the stainless steel on their 642? I polished the cylinder, crane and barrel. I used Metal Glo polishing compound.

(sorry for the crappy phone pics.)

The first picture is a before shot.

Really like the contrast between the shiny SS and the matte alum alloy.

Hey! I have polished some other SS guns, but not my 642. Had not even thought about it, but I really like the way that looks. I know what I'm going to be doing this weekend! Thanks for the inspiration! Best wishes, B

Nice job! Where do you get this paste?

I got mine a loooong time ago, but you can get it off of amazon.

Amazon.com: United Cutlery UC2723 Metal Glo Polishing Paste, 1.4 oz: Home Improvement@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41tfG1D7qdL.@@AMEPARAM@@41tfG1D7qdL

This stuff works REALLY well. You can polish just about anything with it and it will make it look brand new! I actually used it on the back of an old Ipod that was scratched to heck, and it made it look like it had barely been used. Really good stuff.

Everywhere

MetalGlo is an aluminium oxide polishing paste that has been sold in auto parts and hardware stores under the name Simichrome. It originated in Germany several decades ago.

As of about ten years ago it and clone products are packaged under half a dozen names. Metalglo is sold mostly through knife and sword distributors like United Cutlery.

You're welcome! Nothing like some good bonding time with your gun. :D
