I have been away from the forum for a while , very busy, teaching firearms training.Over the last few weeks several people have made generalizations that large caliber handguns are uncontrollable. So, I made a video that shows that with proper training and technique a .44 magnum can be safely shot with one finger and one thumb. I thought since I used my S&W 2 1/2" "Beartracks" some of you might get a kick, pardon the pun, out of the video. I also used the Hornady 300 gr. xtp. If you are interested you can see the video by going to YouTube and searching Check Six Training. Then click on the company logo, a check mark with the number 6, next to it to open the videos. Enjoy.

Thanks. That worked.

Nice video.

I have one of those "Bear Tracks" 629's also and like it a lot:

We've had some guys around here shoot the 460 and 500 magnums (using more than one finger and a thumb of course). They have managed to crack their skulls in all sorts of different ways. This actually accounts for some of the used big guns showing up for sale.

I also have the scandium M&P .357, but the .44 "Beartracks" is

my favorite. Actually, my nickname Tackelbarry was given to me because I was the only person in the history of my department that was ever known to qualify with a .44 magnum for back up and off duty. Good times!

Very nice! I like the wood grips. The only change I made to mine was to add a front night sight. And I only found out recently that they only made 500 of the "Beartracks" guns. Makes me wish I hadn't sold the other one.

44Mag use

I enjoyed the film. My wife using proper technique could shot her 2 1/2" 629 at 50yds and easily clear the x and 10 rings. She passed away 3 yrs ago from cancer. I miss that woman. Recoil was not a problem for her.

My condolences, bwelch. Lost my beautiful wife to that hideous desease in july 2012.
That was pretty cool, Tackleberry!

I am very sorry to hear about both of your losses. I have been with my wife for 32 years and couldn't imagine what either of you went through.
Please feel free to pass along my YouTube channel so others will subscribe. As you can see, I try to make all of our videos less than 5 minutes and fill them with good training substance. If you have suggestions for videos I am also always open to ideas.

Interesting vid. Seems like you are awfully close to that steal target though. I realize they are angled down, but I would still be very concerned about ricochet and backsplatter.

I qualified last year with a 586 L-Comp (middle), took seven moon clip re-loads to do the 50 round course of fire. Also modified with a front tritium sight (the tiny tritium dot that comes stock on the weapon is worthless unless you're an owl).
