Craig Spegel boot grips in smooth black walnut have been on my 642 for the last ten years. They just fit my hand.
if you think the 642 is difficult to control with wood grips you should try a Ruger Speed Six with the factory wood grips and 357 158gr LSWC![]()
What's the problem? I shoot that combination frequently....18/24 rounds. Then I switch over to regular .38's.![]()
I practice and carry my 342 ti with old fashioned wood service grips. I dont have a difficult time at all. Larger rubber grips are more comfortable, but I manage pretty well with the wood. I guess you just have to find the grip that works for you.

no sir thats not what i was asking these are the origional wood grips they hang off the frame slighty i wish i could post a photo but i only have a webcam & it comes out fuzzy.Grip choices are as individual as hand sizes and one size does not fit all. I have a drawer full of grips as a testament to this and usually use the factory magnas w/a grip adapter. For range sessions of 100 + rounds I use rubber to save my hands.
frank i have the wood grips your talking about mine are hanging off the edge a little bit does yours?on all my j-frames i use the factory wood grips and the t-grip. tried the boot grip once. i went back to old school, wood grips with the tyler t-grip.
