SHOT Show 2010 - any predictions or gossip?

There is a rumor on the Colt forum that Colt will reintroduce the Python, but that rumor resurfaces about twice a year. I suspect Colt with startle us with yet another rehash of the Government model.

I am waiting for the Bren Ten. Vltor claims it's ready for release.

At the SWCA show in Troy MI. June this past year, The Smith rep talked about a .380 compact that would be nicer than the LCP. I guess they were trying to claim some of the newly found .380 market. Ive been holding off buying a LCP until I heard something from Smith. I hope to see something from this years show in this regard.

Sure, but it'll be over $500.

Shot is a joke, I've been. I had no business going.
Much better served going to the NRA show- same companies and merchandise, less people that have no business being there and much less people that push, shove and my temper isn't flared so much.

That's good to know. BTW, what kind of people have no business there - non gun dealers?

somewhere recently (maybe here) someone linked to a Remington site, that had a video of a positively dandy service carbine that converted calibers easily and did the switcho-changeo thing into a wide range of platform options....

but I don't know any other details....

That's the Remington ACR. I saw it at the IACP Conference in Denver. Very neat setup if you're into that kind of thing. Amazing design. Remember that Remington is now owned by Cerberus and other makers besides Remington will have the same model.

No, but I did hear that Remington is introducing a 1911. I'm so happy because you can't hardly find a 1911 these days.

Indeed. I know every time I go into a gun store I never see anything that remotely resembles a 1911. :D

I can't imagine that anyone interested in firearms & related merchandise, couldn't feel they died and went to Heaven when they get to go to the SHOT Show. Guns you will never see anywhere else, and guns you will, are there by the truckload. All the big players in the Gun Fraternity are there, shooters, collectors, authors, hunters, etc. For a Smith & Wesson collectors, you get to howdy & shake with all the factory brass and the movers & shakers at S&W. Mike Golden, Bob Scott, etc., now know me by face & name from the years I have button holed them at SHOT to tell them how to run S&W and what I want them to make! I have found things at the show, with S&W logos on them, that S&W didn't know were made! Throw away cameras, for example. Sure there's a crowd. (Tip: Don't shower for two weeks before the show, and the crowds move away from you real fast. Just Kidding, Nahas! ) Shooting demonstrations by people like Miculek, etc. are worth the price of admission alone. Bring your shopping cart - you will need it for just the S&W literature & goodies available at the S&W booth. Ed. #15

I've been to SHOT only one time. That was a couple of decades ago. I thouroghly enjoyed the experience. I would love to go again.

That's right, don't pass up a chance to go if you can get credentials --- I went to the Las Vegas show a few years ago, and had a chance to chat with Clint Smith, Roy Huntington, David Kopel, Alan Korwin, and some "outdoor" writer friends that I might not have bumped into elsewhere, and saw all the neat new stuff scheduled for release, and, got a great suggestion from a S&W gunsmith about modifying the front sight on my 617. Keep in mind that the acronym "SHOT" is from Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade, so there's much more than guns on display --- there's also archery tackle, camping stuff, knives, optics, clothing, &tc., and also a quite large section of law enforcement "stuff" --- some of it interesting to civilians as well as cops. I don't make this an annual pilgrimage, but think anyone who can ought to see it once in awhile.

Former S&W employee, now with Ruger, Ken Jorgenson will be staying with me a few days while waiting for their hotel rooms during the SHOT show. The SHOT show is total sensory overload, be there or be square as the old drag racing announcer used to say.
