I have no idea what is going to be introduced at the SHOT Show, or what S&W will be introducing on December 12th. (Edited on December 11th: Glock apparently had a "Big Event" scheduled for December 10th, too, which appears to have been the introduction of the GLOCK 44 .22 LR Caliber Pistol). S&W needs a 9mm pistol with a hammer, but it may be a rifle.
Most of us in Virginia can only hope if S&W does introduce a long gun that it does not have a box magazine, does not hold more than three rounds in a tubular magazine, is not a semi-automatic, does not have a flash suppressor or a threaded barrel, does not have a pistol grip or a bayonet lug, etc. Long guns with any one of those qualities apparently are "Assault Firearms." "Assault Firearms" are going to be illegal in Virginia, and all existing ones quite possibly confiscated, after January 2020 when the legislature passes the 25+ "Common Sense Gun Control" laws that have been proposed by the new majority party.
We also are going to be needing a lot of pistol magazines that don't hold more than 10 rounds. But we are no longer interested in S&W or anyone else introducing any darn handy little single-stack 9mm pistols with magazines that hold 12, 13, 14, or more rounds.
Those of you in other states, particularly Texas, North Carolina, Arizona, and Florida, may be in a similar situation pretty soon.
Not to hijack the thread just because I am so disheartened -- but truly, I have seen a lot fewer "SHOT Show rumor" threads this year.
