So for the current M&p22 owners, is it worth getting the compact as well? I don't forsee any issues with the standard 22, but I imagine parts will dry up soon. I also don't mind the idea of having a true S&W compact either.

I was given a Compact by my best friend, shot it and quickly put my Walther made M&P in the back of the safe. The new pistol is a dream to hold and shoot, the size is perfect for a plinker of this type and it is death on soda cans at twenty five yards. My buddy got one for himself at the same time, screwed his suppressor on and has shot a number of hogs caught in his traps in Texas. I will probably pass my big one on to a neighbor for Christmas. Did I say I love to shoot this pistol?

Yes. My M&P22 Compact is a lot more reliable and isn't ammo picky like my M&P22.

i think that's an important point; my buckmark is pretty darn good on most ammo but was thinking of grabbing one of these new .22 compacts (you know, for the wife lol) and last thing i want if she's getting into this hobby is getting her something that is a pain to shoot due to ammo issues. Takes the fun out of range time.
