Should I buy a Model 657 with 4" barrel????

I agree with Joe Mack, at least buy the .41 Magnums if you can work the deal. IMO, if I could only buy one it would be the 4" 657 .41. ;)

Like the american pickers say bundle it and get them all at those prices you can't lose.

My new S&W M58 w/4" barrel in 41mag handles awesome too. I like the 4" barrel. I purchased some federal a41mag ammo to get me by and 500rds of 41mag brass which i loaded with leadcast bullets from www.snscasting.com

4" 657....going price $850

6" 657...going price $750

6.5" 624...going price $650

4" 25-5....going price $850

..do the math....$3100...pay $1600...money left over...$1500. Sell the .44 and the .45 and you'll have enough left over to keep the .41s...

Go check the sale prices on GunBroker....and now that panic buying has set it who knows what nice N-frames will really bring when a 3" Model 65 is bringing $650+...

You really need those .41s. You can have 'em and not be extended too far if you get all 4 revolvers.
If you haven't shot & fed a .41, then you are missing something unique to the revolver world. To my perspective, the .41 magnun is to large bore magnum as .38 special is to medium bore. It is one of the truly sweet shootin' calibers. And you can load for it cheap.....

If the OP hasn't made up his mind...

Ramen noodles make a great lunch... lots of folks around the world eat rice & beans every day for dinner. Skipping a meal isn't all bad.

Tires will run further than you think when bald - and the cord showing may help the traction.

Pay part of the utility bills... the power company is understanding.

Still owe on that big new truck? Let the bank have it. Gas will soon be too expensive anyway!

BUY THE GUNS!

Fed-Ex just dropped off 4 boxes of Fed 250 grain Castcore 41 mags yesterday. Ammo is still available, but the 657's are hard to find. The $750 range is probably about right for the 6-inch. A 4-inch probably would never see the shelf at the LGS.
