I went to our local gun show today, for the most part it was disappointing. Hardly any older S&W revolvers to look at (pre 1985), and not many post-85's. Just your basic bizarre bazaar of plastic guns and AR's, overpriced ammo and reloading supplies, with knives and tee-shirts thrown in.
On my way to the exit, I saw an interesting-looking pistol with a box, and stopped to look. It was a S&W Fourth Model, Straight Line single shot .22LR. It had a SWHF letter displayed with it, the original metal box, tools and even the liner was intact, if not a bit rugged looking. It looked almost as good as the one on page 127 of the SCSW 4th Ed. The price was $3500.
I didn't look for the year made, I know very little about these antiques, and wasn't really interested in buying it, waaaay too rich for me, but it was pretty cool to see it. The letter mentioned the guns didn't sell very well.
