Should S&W make 3913s again?

I have tried Glock, Sig, Keltec and numerous other handguns, and feel that the S&W 3913 is by far the best CCW. It is the perfect size, weight, and carries a decent round. I can not for the life of me see why S&W discontinued this series. It seems that in this day of more and more legal concealed carry that they would to make alot of money selling to that market. Not everyone likes the polymer guns that are flooding the market. I would like to see different versions; regular 3913, 3914, and maybe an all stainless version or maybe even a (gulp) polymer framed one. I am sure there are many who would like a certain variation of the 3913.

Take a second to vote if you would like to see the 3913 reintroduced and post what form you would like it to take. Maybe if we get enough votes somebody could send the results to S&W, who knows maybe they will listen to what S&W fans want.

I can only wish you luck on this. However we can see how responsive S&W can be to customer requests (just look at the Internal Lock discussions on the revolver section). Although, if you can get them to listen there might be hope for my M&P in 10mm.

Having just fired one for the first time today, I was impressed enough to buy it. It is the ss and alloy version, and that seems just right to me.

If S&W perceives enough pent-up demand for a particular gun, I would like to think they would be savvy enough to do a limited run, market them wisely and sell them as they do some of the other reintroduced "classics".
But, that is only a hope. Guess we will see.

I am late coming to the game with this line of firearms from Smith & Wesson, but I have to say I am impressed with them. Impressed, to the point of buying two 908 9mms in the last couple of weeks - a blue and a stainless model. I have never examined a 3913, but voted yes just on the knowledge that it is a more finished version of my 908 with steel parts.

I can understand that this line of pistols may be a thing of the past. Maybe there will be a backlash against polymer pistols eventually and S&W will dust off that tooling. In the meantime, I'll be enjoying a couple of inexpensive and apparently quite dependable 908 pistols.

Not only should they resume making 3913's, they should start making 3916's (all-stainless, including the frames).

Hey, I'd buy a 3916.

I keep meaning to order a 3913TSW (though a LE distributor) to complement my late production 3913, but I just never seem to get around to it.

Yes they should keep them in production . . . and I would buy one. I should never have sold my 3913 back in the mid-90's. However, I sure as heck wouldn't want one of those darn rails on mine. It defeats the purpose of the pistol for me and would keep me from buying it.

Just took my 908 to the range yesterday and it shot very well and makes an excellent ccw...now I have to choose (to carry) between my 6906 or the 908 both exceeded my expectations

Of course they should still make the 3913. But S&W is all about the "plastic fantastic" and they make more money off plastic guns.

I've never seen any evidence that S&W cares what customers want, unless it affects their profit margin. Making a 3913 makes too much sense, and would take away from the M&P they are pushing. I don't see it happening.

I recently obtained another 3913 to replace one I mistakenly sold, and I will NOT be letting this one out of my possession. If S&W made them again, I'd buy two more...

I traded away two 6906s back in the 90s and my son presented me with a 6904 after we both came back from Iraq in 04'. That one is staying put. I'm another one who doesn't like plastic guns.

The thought of one just like the original 3913s(no rail or LS contour frame) but with a polymer frame that would accept the original magazines would seem to be the best of all. A bit lighter, cheaper for them to make, easier for the holster folks ..... what wouldn't be grand about that??????

I have a 3913. It is one of the great concealed carry 9mm guns. S&W should either bring it back or come out with a single stack M&P. My guess is that they will come out with a single stack polymer 9mm. I would buy one.

Dot, that would be a good idea, a 3913 M&P. They could use the 3913/14 slide and a polymer frame. I still like the alloy better, but I would buy one with a polymer frame, if the magazines were interchangeable.

I had a 3913. Sold it for a 6906. I really liked it, but the 6906 just seems like a better gun. Same slide and barrel length, but a fatter grip for more rounds. I really feel no difference in carrying the 6906 over a 3913.

I DO wish S&W (and others) would get off the "polymer only, striker fired" guns. Some guys DO like steel and TDA operation.

KBM, I could not agree more. I prefer metal guns over polymer. I never really cared for the striker fired guns. I could deal with a polymer framed 3913 as long as the action stayed the same.
