Show us your Colts!

Here’s my only SAA. Its from 1916, not far from Patton’s. His went on to glory, mine lived a rougher life which included an unfortunate meeting with a pair of vise grips, a trip to Joe Bob’s bumper chrome shop, and a lot of shooting without much cleaning. But our meeting was auspicious as it was $800 and I had a pocket full of government travel money that would otherwise have been wasted on bills, food, or shoes for the kids.

Its ugly but it shoots. I’d letter it but I’d have to filp a coin to see which serial number to use.

Not my Colt and I’m happy I wasn’t anywhere near when this happened. Nevertheless, it is (or maybe was) a nice old Colt that somebody really screwed up. Good object lesson about eye protection.

What vintage was this revolver?

Here is my very rare (only 25 made according to the records, some believe there were around 100) first gen single action army in .38 Special. I have the factory letter (stating .38 Special not .38 Colt) obtained long before the ledger from that era went missing. It was shipped in the mid thirties. I also have a couple of Woodsman’s from the same era.

Thank you for starting this thread! I routinely check the “Smith & Wesson” thread over on the Colt forum and have fun with that.

Terry - thanks for filling in the Single Action Army void so thoroughly! Those are some beauties.

There are more Colts here, but this New Service Target .44 from 1924 probably is the pinnacle of my Colt collection:

I'm guessing 19-teens or 1920s, but I am just a casual observer.

Whenever I see pix like these I think, "What in the hell was that guy thinking?!"

Here’s the only Colt long gun I own. I bought it for 3 gun matches about the time of the bayoneted lug ban under Clinton. I’m not a long gun guy and probably haven’t shot a thousand rounds through it. Great rifle though.

The other is a sort of copy of a detective special my wife gave me for Christmas a few years ago. You never have too many toys!!!

Recently picked up this

Interesting pistol!
Obviously somebody's baby; has a few functional mods like extended safety and wrap around rubber grips. It has a full length guide rod which I really dont care for, but it works 100% so far. Don't breathe on that trigger too hard, it's light!
These are great 1911s; my dad kept one as a nightstand gun and I used to sneak it out for a quick admiration about once a week after school!
Love the finish quality and the roll markings. Pure class.

I can’t remember where but I’ve seen some of those before. What is their story?
Larry

I saw that on eBay and got curious. Turned out some folks on the Colt forum found out it was a small run from Pachmayr for trade shows only and not for retail. The purpose was to show the metal inserts used in those grips. I think I now cornered the market on these translucent grips
