Forgive me, what is strip-tex? Is it a process (like stippling) or a product (like talon grips). Polish on the barrel looks great. Did you soak in white vinegar first or just wet sand and polish?

My son put the grip paper on the back of my grip and it works great and looks factory as it is very close to the look of the grip before he put in on. Being in Florida where the humidity is high and sweaty hands are often, it is great. I like the white logos and have some sharpies for metal I am going to try on mine.

This should be in the mail Thursday. Letters are white, so it'll go along with the white i've already colored the lettering on the slide.

Nothing very fancy here. Trijicon HD night sights, Talon grip tape and Pearce grip extensions. Little bit of white nail polish to doll her up just a bit. The trigger is crisper than my stock Pro Series' trigger was and is plenty good enough for a smallish carry gun, but toying with an Apex anyway.

Edited because I broke the image link.

Any suggestions?

All i'v done so far is a simple dark forest green color fill on the engravings (didn't want anything too flashy), i want to put some night sight paint on all three dot sights. If anyone has any suggestions for what else to do I'm all ears.

Got my Shield 9 back a few weeks ago from Ft. Daniel in Lawrenceville, GA and am 100% satisfied with the results :

Nickel Boron Coating - Slide, Barrel, and internals
OD Green Cerakote Frame and Mags (8 rd. and 7 rd. w/Pearce Grip)
...and a little color fill in hunter green

Next up is going to be the sights... still wondering which ones I should get. Pics attached of the finished work

Truglo TFX sights
Talon Grips
NDZ grip extension
Internal "trigger job" by certified S&W gunsmith: polishing/enhancing action (no Apex kit) reduced trigger pull from 7+ to 5.
Polished feed ramp
Polished mag interior feed lips
Metallic Gold color-filled stamping

I love my Shield. I think that's it for now ;)

Gunsmith

I'm going to do a sight upgrade on mine.

For those of you who have...did you do it yourself? If so, what tool(s) did you use to make it so?

Thanks.

XS Big Dots done by a gunsmith. Apex trigger....same gunsmith. Internals polished.....same gunsmith.

In my area, you can get all the work I had done for about 65 bucks. That does not include the parts.

I'm curious for those that have colored in the engravings on your shield..how does it hold up over time? Do you have to redo it every so often after a lot of use on the range, holstering, cleaning, etc. ? I'm considering this for mine but not totally sure I want to do it yet.

First thing is getting a new back plate for me I believe.

Color holds up very well and we shoot a lot.

I removed the stock striker safety plunger in the slide and used a second one I have to grind and polish a smoother radius. Polished and changed the plunger release arm radius from straight to a slight arc without altering the overall height. Polished the contact area with the sear also and checked for any burrs on the slide and or frame. Made a huge difference with my group size and without making the trigger pull weight any lighter.
I took the M&P armorer course and have done similar changes to full-size M&P 9's but not to a Shield. Really like the result and the gun looks perfectly stock. I can also change the plunger back if needed and not have any permanent change to the gun.
Frank.

No new pics of more mods: Ameriglo SW-251 night sights, APEX trigger kit, color filled logo and lettering (in TAN)

Very nice looking. I'm sure she will enjoy it. S/F

Added a fixxxer pinky extension to the 7 round mag. Painted front sights with neon green and glow in the dark acrylic paint. Rear sights painted with red acrylic paint. Apex, magguts and talon grips are on my list of next upgrades.
