On Saturday afternoon there was a fatal shooting at a WalMart parking lot about a mile from my house. The bare fact was a 65 year man was shot and killed by a carjacker. He apparently tried to resist. The carjacker/murderer escaped by jumping into another car driven by an accomplice. Today he was captured, presumably due to evidence provided by parking lot cameras and several eyewitnesses. He was captured by police after a short car chase. The car he was driving had been stolen. The shooter confessed to the shooting, and had three other "friends" in the stolen car with him who were also taken into custody. He was 13 years old and already had a record, and there was also an outstanding arrest warrant against him for some other criminal act. As he is a minor, no other information was released by the police. I found the whole thing astonishing. Given that the County has a George Soros DA who never met a criminal he didn't love, I fully expect that the kid will get off with not much more than a slap on the wrist. If there is a lesson here, I suppose it is best to offer no resistance to any carjacker even if he is some punk kid.

It is a tragedy for all. The loss of a life and another lost soul that society can't fix and won't remove from the streets.

What is happening in our world?

Prayers for the families of the decedent.

Another tragic shooting. I drive by that Wal Mart several times a week. I will not be stopping there anymore.

Last year a member of my church died after being carjacked by 2 minors only a couple of miles from this location.

In NM, 14 yr olds get treated mostly like adults for murder 1; at 15 they are no longer juveniles if convicted of murder 1. As a practical matter, the few those ages convicted stay in juvie prison until 18-19, then on to an adult facility.

Not sure if sentenced yet but the sentence phase of the conviction of the parents of the punk kid in Michigan that killed 4 of his classmates is on tv. PERHAPS this conviction will become a president for DAs to use????

A juvenile offender should be treated as a juvenile for his first offence only, if of a minor nature. Any offences after that, no matter how minor, should be treated as adult offences. Anybody over 14 should be considered as adults regardless.

The gang is not to be defied, either by resisting or running away. If you run away the gang will just shoot whoever is left behind. Remember, the gang is all and is not to be defied. Did y'all not get this memo?

This is local news from just one neighborhood in Chicago. Our cities have turned into "Escape from New York". The escapees have fled to areas where you folks live. This **** goes on all the time by me. Note the dates in this link. They're all since the 1st of the month. These are the parents of todays "juveniles".
