I was shown a picture of a K-22 last night that potentially has had the sights replaced. I don't have a S/N, but the revolver in question is represented to be circa 1948.
The single picture I saw (left side) was not ideal but I believe the front sight currently fitted is a Lyman, Redfield, King or similar sight blade with a brass bead.
Was the stock front sight integral to the barrel and would it have required modification to install another front sight?
The rear sight has a different side profile than I am familiar with and I'm told that it is adjustable for elevation only.
Looking at the SCS&W 3rd Ed, it appears that the stock front sight would have been a Patridge front sight and the rear would have been W&E adjustable.
Any thoughts as to what rear sight this pistol may be wearing?
Would a conventional K frame adjustable rear sight install on this revolver (barring modifications to fit the current sight)?
Thanks.
