So, have a new 2.0 10mm. Got a new plunger to try and alleviate the sht OEM trigger a bit as there are no aftermarket triggers available.

Tried to move the rear sight to get at the plunger, and it will not budge. I’m talking quality brass punch and numerous way more than should be necessary blows with a hammer. Have done quite a few sight installs over the years and have never needed more than a good smack with a brass punch.

Anyone else have an issue with the 2.0 sights simply being beyond stuck?

And yes, the set screw was not only loosened, but removed. Also, removing from left to right, although it should not make a difference.

Do I really need to buy a pusher for this thing, and if so, which one have you used that actually works?

If you are going to use the same sights and you carry about firearm's perfect look... then YES, sight pusher is needed.

In my case, I didn't care about old sights, because I was changing them together with striker block plunger, so I punched it out with hammer... and the sights looked bad after removing.

S&W M&P sights are notoriously difficult to remove, and your post is evidence of that. Bring it to a gunsmith and let him to it right. I’m sure he’ll charge you less than what a quality sight pusher will cost you, especially if you don’t intend to use it much again. If you don’t care about the sights you’re taking off, I’m sure you will care about the ones you are putting on, especially the tritium vials.

I just purchased a Real Avid sight pusher - I like it. Installed a set of Truglo TFX sight on a Glock 19, and just changed out my striker block on my Shield. I used the Real Avid tool for both. I had Truglo TFX’s on the Shield. The Real Avid pushed everything easily. Nice heavy tool, very happy with it.

I bought an NC Star VISM sight pusher at a gun show a few months ago. It was around $90 and it works nicely.

To do the job properly with least risk, yes.

I have several made by MGW. They work great.

Meh, I'd rather buy the tool and be able to do it myself from now on, for the same price a gunsmith would charge.

Remember: No one cares about your guns more than you.

:D

Is the slide in a vise? I had trouble before with MP sights and bought a 2lb Dewalt hammer and it works like a charm. More mass, less velocity.

Trying to use a smaller hammer is just a PITA.

While I have MGW sight pushers for both M&P full/mid size and Shields, a quality universal like the Wheeler should do. Had to use it on my Shield 45 and it worked fine.

My Shield Plus, which is otherwise excellent, had the most poorly-aligned factory sights of any firearm I've ever purchased. And I definitely needed a sight-pusher tool to make the necessary adjustment. (I learned that by breaking a couple of punches...)

Which sights did you find for your 10mm? I have one too, and those tall ones look goofy. I want adj night sights.

Do yourself a favor and buy the best sight pusher you can afford. It will save you time, effort, broken tools, and damaged parts. S&W must have an 800 pound gorilla installing sights these days. They are tight as can be. Most shops are charging extra to change the sights on a smith.

Agree with Rick that the best sight pusher you can find is a necessary tool on newer made handguns with such precise dovetails and aftermarket sights. The factory uses hydraulic pressure to install sights which usually cannot be defeated without damage to sight or slide when using a hammer.

I thought the plunger was under the optic plate on the 10mm models.
