My question to all Sigma owners? Have any of the Sigma owners on this forum used the Sigma as a duty gun? Before I use it as a duty gun other than an everyday carry weapon, I would love to hear some feed back...the Sigma looks to be a great contender for duty classification.

Thank you respectively,

I have carried both a 9 and a forty over the years. The county east of mine issued Sigma's for years. Both of mine were totally reliable and as good as anything I've carried in the last 39 years

My dept. went from a glock 21 (too big and bulky) to an M&P40. Don't know personally of any issue sigmas but a contract was just carried out by S&W to the afghan police for sigmas, and also some other countries military units...might want to google and check...

A few local agencies issued the original SW40F and all of them had major issues with reliability and parts breakages as the guns got older. Most of them changed over to the Glock but one smaller department was given SW40E (2nd Generation) replacements, they never had a problem with them. I don't know anyone around me that issues a Sigma anymore, but I do know a deputy or two that carry them (department does not issue guns) and at least one heralds it as the best duty gun her has ever had.

Just an FYI, new old stock Sigma duty holster pop up fairly often on eBay for cheap. Usually listed under SW9F or SW40F.

I don't carry the sigma ( unless Illinois changes there law) but I would bet my life on it. Its a great gun.

Don't believe the internet or gs naysayers. The sigma is a worthy, reliable, contender for a duty/carry piece.

Don't know of any department around me have one. I do know that a officer in my department had one. It was replaced after a fire that the gun was in and he no longer trusted it even though it shot fine. I would use my Sigma for work but they only allow .40s for duty use
