Sigma reviews are all the map (good vs. bad) and the fact that they are lower cost causes folks to think that maybe the quality is not comparable.

The bad reviews I've read seemed to be mostly for early models.

Great Gun.

I've had my 40VE for 6 years and have put over 2000 rounds through it with not one failure to fire. It points dead-on and the trigger will smooth out in time without monkeying with the springs. I have nothing but good things to say about this gun. It is the unsung hero, the black sheep, the red-headed step-child of the S&W line, but it does it's job and it does it very well.

My son in law got a 40VE I tried but they were out said they would have more the next week. Well they did but, all they got in was the 9VE'S but, I'm like my grand kids and couldn't wait any longer. But I'm happy with the 9mm.

What holster do you use with your Sigma and your light?

I've never been able to find a holster for my Sigma and the Streamlight M4 Tactical Illuminator It's snapped on when it's in my nightstand. Fumbling around for my pistol and my Maglight is asking too much of me at 4 a.m.

In the winter with an overcoat I use a Blackhawk Serpa CQC paddle and when wearing anything lighter a Don Hume IWB Model H715.

You might be able to get away with a very large generic nylon holster, but I'd imagine it would be too large for concealed carry.

Marcus, why don't you try your hand at making a kydex holster? It ain't rocket science. Kydex on e bay, about $5. A rivet, chicago screw or a simple nut and bolt and your in business. Kydex is very easy to work with. Toaster oven about 300 or even a hair dryer will do it. Just heat and mold it to fit. It's very forgiving. I use .80 for 1 piece holsters and it's heavy enough for a strong clip. Lots of stuff on YouTube or forums like this.

I just bought a sigma sw9f from my dad which he had bought and put in a box since the 90's, so it is brand new . i was wondering if anyone has any of these firearms and if they are the same as the new sw9ve, or is there any glitches because they were the first generation of polymer pistols made by S&W. Usually first generations of anything has glitches or problems. Took it to the range a couple days ago and i feed 150 rounds of ball ammo with one failure to eject( maybe it was the one box of PMC ammo that the range sold me, cause it shot Remington and Magtech just fine). Also, does anyone know if i can find a 17 round magazine anywhere. i can only find 16 round ones for the sw9ve, and even then they are kind of pricey $45.00. Well, hope to get some replies. THX

Holster

I bought a Hume JIT Slide for a G19 to fit my SW40VE. I had to stretch it a little. It fits now just a little too snug which assures it won't just fall out.

This is a very compact holster. It holds the gun very closely to your body.

I bought a SW9VE locally, I was looking for a 9mm and the price was right, it seemed cheap, with the slide release being cheaper than the 1911 slide release (not fair to compare) and it had the $50 rebate, which I haven't gotten yet.
Yes the trigger is harder then my 1971 M-18, in fact after putting 50 rounds through the 9 the other day at the range when I picked up the M18 it felt like a hair trigger.

But since using the SW9VE I have fallen in love with it!

I was breaking clay pigeons I put on the range backstop 50 YARDS away, although for the life of me I couldn't hit a baseball I also put at 50 yards, but that is not bad for a short barreled 9mm!

I was thinking of a M&P 9mm but now wonder if another 9VE would be just as good?

I have"heard" about problems but the 2 F's and 2 C's have more than 5K through each- I had to replace a striker spring on the one F- 2.50$ and 15 min. I shoot them better than glocks, sights are still bright, and they are more accurate than they have any right to be. I have sold many and have many personal ones. I even had Blackhills leather make a dual gun shoulder holster, and attached DBL mag pouch- Excellent. Enjoy!!!!

MMC used to be a great company with great sights but they seem to have gone out of business in the last six months or so which seems to be why people are reporting bad customer service...

Just got back from the range with my new Sigma and new M&P9C

The 9c has a light trigger but it was scattering shots, the felt recoil was about the same.

I am not a great shot but I have fun.

The top target is the Sigma the bottom the M&P9c

Prime Winner...this point might be worth a new thread? I was told by Gander Mt when I purchased my Sigma that it has a S&W lifetime warranty as well as a one year warranty and a free cleaning by Gander MT.

So then the lifetime warranty only, applies to the original purchaser when new? if so, I hope I can find a new striker if mine ever breaks. From what I saw for parts list order, the striker assemblies have to be installed by smith & Wesson.

Nope....there is no lifetime warranty....not even for the original owner.
