Sigma FAQ

i purchased my sw9ve from a local gun shop and it was a slightly used by the previous owner, my question is since i did not purchase this Brand new, do i still have a warranty on this still or no?

What do you use to clean the polymer?

Anybody use something to shine it up on the outside? grip, frame trigger guard, etc...?

Lee

Lee, I use a Gun Silicone Cloth to wipe down my gun after cleaning. Cloth seems to shine up the Polymer well.

Hoppe's 9 Gun and & Reel Cloth. Hoppe's 9-They are the Gun care people ya know!! :D

My understanding is Lifetime Warranty applies to original owner.

They won't even ask if you are the original owner. They just take care of you. No worries.

split frame

uhhhhhmmm, just encountered a problem with my 40VE...:mad: my frame cracked and split. What is their stance on warranty and replacing the frame? I havent't had time to call while their service dept is open, but need to get this resolved! I've owned several Sigma series pistols and this is the first and only issue i've had. Please, if anyone has any info or insight on S&W warrantying this?

Plato,

Give them a call asap. I'm sure they will work with you. How many rounds did you put through it before it cracked? Factory ammo, reloads? Where about did the frame crack?

I will make time tomorrow to call them. I've had several SW9VEs (buy one, use it, and sell it, repeat!) Never one issue EVER! I'm sold on SIGMAs and am a die hard SIGMA guy (and a SR9 guy too, sshhhhh), but this musta been a fluke thing. The ammo was bought from a gun show (a few mix-match boxes for cheap) and I thought they were factory, but I've asked around and others seem to thing they were reloads or +P in a factory box, but I dont know. All I know is first bullett from the box, and whammy! The frame cracked a "V" shape under the slide stop on the left side and seemed to tweek the slide stop and then cracked it on the right side from the take down catch all the way down to the trigger base.

Maybe a bad rounds? Seems like it was to much for the frame to handle. Just my opinion. Keep us posted on what S&W says.

#7 What does VE stand for? Someone correct me if im wrong on this but I think it stands for Value Enhanced. Also the F model was the first gen and had the slightly longer barrel and slide.
SW9VE breaks down as follows:

SW = Smith & Wesson
9 = Caliber
V = Stainless Slide
E = Enhanced

Here are the rest (in 9mm):

PRE-1999:

SW9F - Full Size (Original Sigma)
SW9C - Compact model
SW9V - The grey framed stainless slide model
SW9P - Ported model

POST-1999:

SW9E - Enhanced, Melonite slide and barrel
SW9VE - Enhanced, Stainless slide and barrel
SW9GVE - Enhanced, Green Frame, Stainless slide and barrel
SW9GE - Enhanced, Green frame, Melonite slide
SW9VE Allied Forces - Melonite slide but stainless barrel.

Brand New Frame!

Got the 40ve back and they completely replaced the frame with a whole new frame and new serial number! I am impressed with their warranty!

Thanks! Im going to call the S&W corporate store today and see how much they are selling them for there. If cheaper than my local store I'll take the short ride. Thanks for the input.

Check the prices at Bud's Gun Shop (budsgunshop.com). Best prices by far!

I have the SW40F. I didn't like the trigger and found that Apex Tactical Specialties makes a Sigma Spring Kit. I called to be sure it would work in the 40F. They said it would, and told me about their video.
I got the kit, started the video, and gave up. The 40F is NOT like the SD they have in the video. Can't disassemble the slide they way they show.
Does anyone have a detail strip video for the SW40F?

OK, all you who read my post about not being able to take the Sigma SW40F slide apart can stop laughing. I figgered it out.
It is NOT like the SD, but the slide end cap did come off the same way.

Tried to hate this model. Shot it in .40S&W years prior to purchasing one myself in 9mm. I thought I'd end up doing trigger job etc. but actually I didn't find the trigger to be all that bad. The 9mm version I got has been 100% reliable and reasonably accurate (minute-of-bad-guy) with anything it was fed.

To me, it is a sleeper overlooked by many.

Sigma .40

Can anyone tell me if the sw40f barrel will fit in the VE models. I know it will be longer, kinda like the Beretta 92 but will the barrel drop in and lock up properly.

congrats!

They sold many of them for many years....I guess S&W made a nice profit.

Congrats on making it to retirement and enjoy shooting for as long as you can,
I prefer the metal S&W pistols myself, like this 915.

Nice walk down memory lane. I had the original "F" series in both 9mm and 40 at one time but let them go. I regret that now.
In a world full of flash, dazzle, and optics ready FDE models the Sigma-SD line is still a good, solid, reliable gun.
