What is this board members' experience with the current S&W Sigma's? I know the early production models had a few problems. How are the new one's?

Cabela's has them on sale for $299. Is this a good deal?

Are they reliable as a self-defense weapon?

Any problems?

Good guns but shoot a few hundred rounds through it and get used to it.If no problems you are set.I shot 200 rounds through mine with no problems.

Bought mine in 2008- .40 CAL --Ran 1000 rounds BEFORE I even cleaned it to see if encountered any problems> NONE !!!! Then ran another 1000 rounds for test. Again No problems!!!. So spent $160.00 ON A Crimson Trace and is most positive Self Defense weapon yet. But I still carry/like the 4513TSW and Shorty .45 Performance Center 45's . Going to the store/shopping I carry the .45's. Going to a REAL gunfight--//; I carry the Sigma .40 with Crimson trace and 4 MAGS.

I suggest you click on the link provided in post #3.

It is perhaps the best article I've read on the sigma and helped push me over the edge.

I don't think that anybody will tell you that the sigma is the best gun on the planet, but IMHO it is easily one of the biggest bangs for the buck available.

Mine works everytime and is allot of fun to shoot.

Good luck!

For $299? Grab it as fast as you can, THEN read the link in post #3. I love mine.

Is that price for a 40S&W or the 9mm?

I picked my 9ve up for $279 plus shipping and FFL charge ($25). You might find better deals if you shop around. I think the last I checked the 9mm went for $289 with free shipping from Bud's.

Like others on here said already, best bang for the buck. :)

I paid $299 at the local Academy. It took months but the $50 refund finally appeared. Bought more ammo.

I love my Sigma 9mm. Had it out today and fired the worst condition ammo I had through it. I'm talking completely blue from corrosion. This stuffs been sitting in a garage for about 10-15 years. Over 200 rounds today and not one misfire, FTF, FTE, or any kind of problem. I've put about 600 rounds through it total, with NO problems whatsoever. It hits where I aim every time.

I would get it. It shoots like a dream and never puts up a fuss. Honestly, I like shooting this more than my Dad's Glock 17.

I like my sigma. Bought in 2010, received 2 extra magazines. The only complaints I have are: 1. I don't shoot well. 2. After shooting 150-200 rounds my finger hurts.

Remedy for both = Practice, practice, and more practice.

shoot I liked my sw40ve I went and bought a sw9ve at cabela's today 289 ouyt the door, sending in my coupn for the 50 bucks and 2 more mags :)

Where did the troll come from.
If you don't like it, don't buy it.
My Sigma .40 did all I expected it to.
