SIGMA Opinions?

What hurts your finger is trying to load those last cpl rounds in the mag. Thats why I got a UpLULA speed loader.

shoot I liked my sw40ve I went and bought a sw9ve at cabela's today 289 ouyt the door, sending in my coupn for the 50 bucks and 2 more mags :)

Where are you getting these rebate coupons? I thought the last rebate program ended 12/31/2010? Bought my 40ve on Monday and never heard a word about rebates... The Smith and Wesson sight shows nothing about a current Sigma rebate program, unless I'm missing it.

$299 is a decent price, occassionally sales will go lower, but not much.
I got mine almost four years ago and it was $289. But watch out for rebate price quotes if they are included. I believe all the deals on the Sigma are expired.
Geoff
Who notes the price is common in much of NE FL.

Colt if the gun was manufactured before the deal expired the coupon will still be with the gun and S&W will honor it.

It looks like the only active rebate is the "Nations Finest" which is for active and retired military. Runs through the end of March, postmark by Tax Day. Sigma's aren't on the list.

I bought my SW40VE about 2 weeks ago at Gander Mountain for $329.95 with a $30 rebate, =$299.95. That rebate has since expired and they list them now for $399.95.

Gander mountain is very high in there prices. 399.00 will never sell. You can buy the SD for that and a little change. Don't get me wrong, when they have deals, I'm all over it.

wow thats high can buy at bud's like dirt cheap with free shipping.I feel for ya LGS selling em for 379.00, with my LEO discount I cna get a M&P9 or 40 for a little more than that.

Tbone,
No Coupon with my 40ve, but at a price of $269.00, I'm not griping.. When I bought my M&P 9, about 2 years ago, I got the 2 free mags (17's) and the $ 50.00 rebate. So I'm GTG!!

How is this gun compared to the M&P?

I own a Sigma 9VE which my wife annexed for her use, and a SWaMPy 9c.
Understand the Sigma is the semi-auto version of the old Model 10, a very basic self defense weapon. The trigger pull is as long as a double action revolver. The grip is one of the smallest in a double column magazine.

The M&P is also Double action only, but the trigger stroke is shorter and lighter. The M&P has interchangeable back grip inserts and allow you to adjust the weapon to your hand and grip.

The SD series is close to the Sigma grip, but feels just a bit larger, and has a trigger pull much closer to the M&P in feel.

Prices: Sigma $284.99 SD9 $383.99 and M&P $474.99 locally in NE FL.

Who notes his wife likes the Sigma trigger pull because it is like a DA revolver.

9VE here, with about 450 rounds of my handloads through it. 9mm brass varies a lot; so even though I inspect and chamber check it, I get some apparently out-of-spec deep primer pockets and the occasional light primer hit. Also have had a couple of failures to feed during this break-in period. It is worth noting that my BHPs eat everything; but I still am inclined to blame the mixed brass, particularly the IVI. If I find some cheap, decent quality bulk 9mm ammo that will be a more valid test.

As regards shootability, I much prefer it to the G17 and 19. The stock revolver-like trigger is perfect for me. Best deal around.

SW9VE here. A fine handgun. Been looking at the Glock 19. Maybe this weekend or next. :D

Or compact
I hate to tell you, amigo, but the Sigma of today is a compact. :) I was managing a gun store when the first Glock 19s (same size as the Sigma of today) hit the shelves, and you would not believe what a miracle they appeared to be: teeny-tiny compared to the standard-of-the-day Beretta 92F, but with the same magazine capacity and a full 4" barrel.

Maybe you meant "subcompact"? Or maybe you're like me and you think that all of these designations for gun sizes (compact, full-sized, sub-compact, micro-compact) can get a little silly. :) I just rented a car, and the rainbow of absurd categories that they were utilizing was pretty hilarious.
