-If you get one, you'll love it! And if you keep your eyes open, you can find one heck of a deal. Mine was $351.44 including tax, but some shops run them for $299.99+tax. Either way they are great deals fro a great pistol...

When Academy Sports had them on sale once before for $289, I bought a SD9VE. When they had them on sale again recently for $289, I wanted to get a SD40VE, but no stores in the Dallas area had them, and they won't give rain checks.

Now they are back at regular price ($319, which is still a good price for this gun) and they are still hard to find. I checked this morning, and the only Academy Sports in the DFW area that had one was in Flower Mound (which is 70 miles one way from me) but it was on hold, pending getting a background check cleared...so, it wasn't for sale. I went into a local gun shop and they had one for $339, which is $20 more, but I'd have spent that much in gas to go get the one in Flower Mound, plus this one was for sale today...so, I bought it. :)

GKC,
I bought my 40 at a LGS for 359 plus tax. They are across the street from my house.
I probably wasted enough gas and time to make up any difference for a lesser price.

Now, I went to a gun show 10 minutes away, they had the 9mm for 329. You simply won't get one in MI cheaper unless you have a friend that is an FFL and is willing to waive sales tax and the FFL fee.
So I thought about it (after spending $3 on parking and $5 to get into the show).
So this past Sunday I went to a gun show 35 minutes away. $5 for me and my girl to get in, 5 to park. There's 70 miles worth of gas and 15 between parking and entry.
I found the same dealer, they were out. I found a dealer near the door for 339, I asked them to match so and so's price at 329 and it's sold.
They gladly obliged.

What did I really spend on the gun after time, gas, show entrance and parking...as much as I would've as if I would've gone across the street and spent $359 for a 9mm. However... They were sold out. LOL.
Moral of the story, when you spend that much time driving around, looking...and waiting, you've lost any savings you could've had. I'm older, but not too much wiser...LOL.

Man, that's so true. I called instead of driving, although when I'd have to take my wife to one of her doctors or physical therapy, I'd stop at any Academy Sports along the way...but I was going that way anyway. This particular gun shop has an online store, and they had a SD40VE for $322 on it, but it came with 10 round magazines. I finally said what the heck, and went in this morning to order it, and lo and behold they had one in the case for $339, that came with 14 round magazines, so I bought it! Yeah, it was $17 more, but I'd have spent $80 or so to get two 14 round magazines, and keep the 10 rounders for backup...so, I still think I came out ahead.

Plus, when I want something, I want it NOW. :p

We are all spoiled with the age of the Internet and fast shipping. Want it now... I'm the same way.
My G/F's been saying no...and then she just realized, I had it in my mind we were going to buy her this gun. Period.
And she was ALL smiles at the range after putting about 100 down.
It is "her" gun. Not some rental, not my 40 which has a little too much pop for her. HER gun. :)
You could've always sold those 10 rounders to me....lol.
I figure I spent an extra $100 or so on gun shows, parking and driving around...but hey, how can you argue going to a gun show with your kid and better half? (That's how I justify it anyways...)

New to the S&W Forum. I bought my first SW40VE at a gun show in February of 2011 for $289 after doing much online research. I really liked this pistol so later I purchased a SD9VE for $300 and then a SD40VE for $320. I really enjoy all of these S&W pistols. I am a reserve deputy and would carry one of these pistols for duty except they wanted every deputy to carry a .45, so I purchased a S&W M&P 45 and I like it as well. I also have a S&W M&P 15 Sport which is a good AR rifle. Many people look down on my Sigma pistols until we go to the range and I can out shoot all the Glock owners. They don't know what to say and that puts a big smile on my face.

hehe. me and my buddy have friendly competitions at the range, hes blown away that my SD that costs 1/2 of his glocks is able to get tighter groups than his glock :) he has tried my SD and cant get past the learning curve of the trigger. i however have mastered it

Still have my sigma .40 and my original sd9!! wouldn't trade either one of em for anything!!

SW9VE on it's way to me at the end of the month. It's coming with three 16-round mags and one decreased capacity for travel to states that don't trust me with more than 10 rounds.

SD40VE

Howdy ya'll. New to the forum and glad to be here. I have an SD40VE and it is my EDC firearm. Great pistol for the price. (Pistol, Uncle Mike's Reflex holster and 100 rds. ammo for $300 out the door). I haven't had any issues with it and I don't even mind the heavy trigger pull. I also have a Bersa Thunder .380 for CC.

My SD40VE has been super. No failure to fire and the only misfeeds I've ever had were caused by my own improper handling. I took an enhance concealed carry class recently and was surprised at the number of issues other attendees had with their weapons while mine performed flawlessly. Of course, it helps if you actually maintain your gun. :-)

I picked up my SD40 a few months ago and I am pretty happy with it. It has shot everything I put in it without any problems.

After a long wait, I pick up my California SD9VE next week. Yeah the extra "features" are superfluous but I've been eager to get this gun since it was announced.

As of 3-08-14 we have reached 100 votes! Great job guys! :)

I still think there are tons of sigma owners out there that might not visit the forum much anymore, I hope they come back!

I say we have a great gun and a great group of owners! ;)

Let's get the "old sigma club" rocking again! :D
