Have a possible buyer in CA asking for an SKU for a 5906. Anyone know how to find that information?

The box the gun came in end liable,
or try the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson under the model description.(They show 16 Product Codes for the 5906)
Call the factory, some times they can help.

Just purchased the Standard Catalog. Am having difficulty deciphering the codes for the 16 different versions listed there. Mine is stainless, rounded trigger guard and has ears protecting the rear sight. Any ideas to help narrow product code down?

This was a law enforcement handgun so I don't have the box.

Take some time to read the pages that explain the codes pg. 278. Adjustable Sights (AS) as you write "ears protecting the rear sight". Rounded trigger guard appears as 10870 sku. All the info you need is within the Standard Catalog of S&W.

I believe I own a similar 5906 purchased new in 1994...All stainless, round trigger guard, protected adjustable rear sight, curved backstrap, 15 round magazines. The product code (SKU) on the box is..108170. I hope this helps a little. As a side note, if your gun has 15 round mags, I don't believe it would be legal in California.

You can call S&W customer service(800-331-0852) with the serial number and they can tell you the product code/sku number. As stated you may not be able to send the mags if they're over 10rds. You will also need a dealer willing to ship the gun to CA, it does require a little extra work and some dealers don't want to bother with it.
