Anyone else seen this new James Bond flick? Saw it yesterday, and I have to say, it's one of the best Bond movies I've seen in years. I've always liked Daniel Craig in the role anyway, but the last movie seems to have let the action overcrowd the plot. This movie was great from beginning to end, and Javier Bardem makes one of the best baddies ever, in my opinion. I won't spoil the end here, but let's just say I was somewhat surprised. Go check it out; you won't be disappointed.

Had a dinner and a movie date with the Mrs. last night, so Skyfall it was.. It was just as good as the reviews.. Including a round of applause from the audience, when the movie ended.

I give it :D:D:D:D 4 Smiley's

Same here had dinner with the wife and went to see it, the theater was packed and the audience applauded at the end. I like Daniel Craig as Bond he gives him a lethal edge.

Went yesterday afternoon. Typical shoot 'um up, expoding action as any movies these days.
Didn't "wow" me like past Bond movies. Corny wit at times and not a lot of eye candy Bond movies are known for.

Rating : :)

It's OK

Howdy,
I hate to be a spoiler but I think they are close to taking a good thing with Craig and turning him to a Roger Moore like clown.
The settings were spectacular and there are a lot of good, exciting scenes, but the DB5 and clown like comments make me hope they don't take a good portrayal of Flemming's Bond in the last two movies and turn him back into the Pee Wee Herman like image of Moore's rendition.
Thanks
Mike

I also saw it last night. Was very good, but almost too much. Too much action. Hardly a moment when something big and loud wasn't happening. I'd like a little less action and a little more story.

Want to see, hope to see it soon! I hope they aren't making him into another Moore Bond,,,,those pictures IMHO really were to far fetched and stank...... I really beleive that Moore was the worst Bond ever followed by Dalton....
Just my thoughts ;)

I have not seen the movie yet. I thought when they first announced Daniel Craig, that he was going to be less "pretty" and more rough and edgy. Have the writers changed the script?

Haven't seen it, but to me Sean Connery always will be the best Bond. Goldfinger and From Russia with Love are my favorites. Roger Moore was way too suave for the part. I agree with the poster who would like more character development and story than pure action, especially now that CGI has ruined things.

I really believe that Moore was the worst Bond ever followed by Dalton....
Oddly, Timothy Dalton was more like the character conceived by Ian Fleming than anyone else who played Bond.

Sean Connery to me is Bond, and the whole 50-year-long series peaked with From Russia with Love.

Great flick! The Mrs and I took it in yesterday. Daniel Craig has re-energized the role of 007. I love the three movies with him in the starring role. Can't wait for the next one. May have to see this one again!

I saw Daniel Craig on Leno this week and read an interview with him awhile back. He seems an okay guy, but to me, just isn't James Bond. And I've read all the books.
Connery was best, followed by Timothy Dalton.

Moore, whose autobiography I've read, was misplaced. He could play Simon Templar, the Saint. But he was no 007.

Broccoli, or whoever has the movie franchise now, is just a filmmaker who thinks his audiences are dumb jerks who like action and spectacular explosions. And the books are no good now, either. The author and the movie people seem intent on forcing upon us PC issues that did not parallel Ian Fleming, whose views on such matters were clear. Some of his books probably couldn't be written now, in fact.

Actually, I don't think ANY of the subsequent authors understood Fleming or his character. The present one seems intent on having too many plot twists to surprise the reader.

I'll probably not see, "Skyfall", unless I find it cheap as a used DVD. The cute quips are not what the original Bond would say in most cases. After, "Thunderball", the movies drifted ever further from the books.

I am pretty sure that what has happened to Bond and even to Sherlock Holmes was what prompted Modesty Blaise's creator to kill her off when he retired, and to specify that no one else be allowed to resume writing his characters. I think it was a wise decision. Even the movies and the TV show about Modesty were "camp" or worse parodies of the comics and the excellent novels.

Overall, I think that moviemakers are cut of a different cloth than that from which good authors are shaped. Of course, they're trying to make money from the general public, which isn't too cerebral, and today's movie audiences are probably the least informed in history. But they do like action and explosions on a grand scale. Still, you'd think they could at least provide prettier actresses.

I didn't care for anyone else who portrayed James Bond, after Sean Connery. Until I saw Daniel Craig, that is...I really like his portrayal of Bond much better than even Sean Connery. Of course, the art of movie making has advanced a great deal since the Connery-as-Bond days, so a lot more can be done in a movie now...but that isn't my main reason. Frankly, I've never read the books, I've only seen the movies...and as much as I enjoyed the Connery-as-Bond movies back in the day, I now think of him as a little too suave and debonair...which, I grant may have been the way Fleming intended him to be...but, I like Craig's portrayal as a gritty, rough, and far more ornery rogue who can still turn on the charm and polish when it serves his ends.

I am going to see Skyfall with one of my sons this coming Friday...and I can't wait! ;)

When I was 10 years old I saw Thunderball! It blew me away. Hard to beat and I still watch it from time to time.

I haven't seen it, but the local newspaper critic wrote only a lukewarm review. All should be aware that Craig is an avowed anti-gunner, so think about that when you pull out your wallet at the box office.

I've seen Craig say he's not a fan of handguns personally, but never seen where he's supported gun control. There is a difference. I personally despise coffee, but that does not mean I think it ought to be banned.

Most all of the Bonds were anti-gun, but that wouldn't stop from watching a inept spy who'd be better at creating a diversion than actual spy work do his thing. Dale

Anyone here know the name of the other book that Ian Fleming wrote that went on to be made into a classic movie?...
