slide fire plus silencer recommendations

I've been shooting my 15-22 with the slide fire stock and enjoying it along with my other 22s. Now I'm ready to buy a suppressor in 22lr.

Which suppressor is best for the 15-22 with a slide fire stock?

I'm searching the web, watching videos, they all sound great. They come in different lengths and weights, and only a few list how much suppression the can is rated at.

Some aren't rated for full auto, some are rated for moderate full auto.

When using the slide fire stock, I know I need to keep the weight of the gun light. But whats the difference in 2.5oz and 4.0oz and would that be the deal breaker?

Silencerco Sparrow is hard to beat, but is at the top of your price range. Full auto rated, take apart, no first round pop on rifles. Not sure if the weight would be an issue, but I'm not sure how many full auto rated are going to be particularly light.

+1 on the Sparrow, still waiting on my stamp but have used my buddies. One range session with it and I was sold. Then he showed me how easy it is to clean and I bought one the following day.

Like stated above, the Sparrow is the route to go. My 15-22 does not go out of the house without it. Once you have shot with a suppressor, you will not want to shoot without it.

I haven't tried myself so I'm not sure but I don't think you'll get it to run with sub-sonics and a suppressor.

I have no idea if a suppressor works with a slide fire, however don't I remember reading they recommend using some sort of flash hider to increase back pressure? If that is so, the suppressor does that better than anything.

22lr is very dirty. Save up and get a Sparrow. You really need one that breaks apart easily and is made of stainless. To me, besides all that, one of the great selling points on a Sparrow is that the serial number is stamped on the exterior tube... not the stainless working parts. This means, for example, you could ship off your internal parts to a friend to have them cleaned... with no transfer paperwork. When they upgraded the Sparrow to stainless a while back, they were able to offer an upgrade path to owners of the older models... all without any delay or paperwork.

To me, the biggest downside of having a suppressor is all the delays of waiting for the transfer papers from the government. With the Sparrow, you just go thru this once (purchase) even if you were to ever have to ship it back for repair. You just keep the external tube in your possession and ship away.

Love my Sparrow and can't imagine why I would ever want to shoot again without it, except for the occasional round to demonstrate the difference of shooting normal and suppressed.

My thoughts are the weight and the sub-sonics, he didn't say what else is on the rifle. I also think he should put more thought into it after he said this:

That's like saying what's the difference in a 5lb and 2lb trigger pull. There is the line where mechanically it won't work. Every little bit counts when making a slide fire work on a .22.

Like I said before I'm not sure. I got the same feeling you did though, it sounds like he may not realize that is just the cost of the stamp. I think he needs to check it out before spending all that money if that's the package he want's.

I think Phil has done a lot of experimenting with the stock, he may know.

With the tax stamp, my budget is $400-$600.

For your price range I'd go with the Tacticai Innovations Tac-65.
It sells for $250 MSRP and can be taken apart for cleaning.
Also, it is really pretty darn good for the money.

My general advice to anyone buying a can is to forget about a "budget".

Do your homework and buy the can that you think is the absolute best one for you. The reason I say this is because it will be yours for life. You may have to wait up to a year for a tax stamp, so if you need to save up for another couple months to get the one you really want then ya might as well do it.

Some points to consider...

Is it user serviceable
Overall size
Weight
Type of materials and design
Sound reduction and FRP
Does it handle other rimfire calibers
Many cans have lifetime warranty or service, but is the manufacturer likely be around a couple years from now or is it a mom and pop operation.

Standard velocity is subsonic, because it is match ammo. Usually rated at 1050-1080 FPS which like subsonic is below the SB level of 1126 FPS.

Just checking on this. Has anyone gotten the Sparrow and 15-22 to run slide fire with standard velocity ammo? I just got one and added the CMC trigger. Runs like a champ even with subsonic-described rounds...just thunk-thunk-thunk and target impacts. Great fun. I'd love to try slide fire one day though...I understand it is not ideal but I thought the back pressure from the Sparrow would help with making standard velocity work with slide fire. Not willing to shell out the money without confirmation! But if it does work I can't of anything more fun.

Hooray! He didn't even have the suppressor and that was subsonic...with a 3 lb trigger so I should be okay with the CMC. Thanks!

I skipped to 5:30 and can't believe how fast his gun cycled through those rounds. My gun's cycle rate slows way down with SV, so much that I just stick with mini mags.

As for the OP, after researching everything I could, I bought the huntertown arms guardian 22 suppressor. It's serviceable and weighs in at 4oz, and cost less than the stamp.

The guy also said be greased the SlideFire so maybe that helps the cycling rate.
