Slide Polish

Here is picture of a 5906 police trade that had scuffs on it and I polished it with Mother's mag and wheel polish. It was done by hand with an old T shirt and lots of rubbing while watching T V.

I have polished out a couple pistols in years past in front of the TV. I used simichrme polish, and thin flexible leather instead of a rag. Leather holds up better if you are doing it by hand. Thin suede works well

So I polished the barrel on my sd40ve. I'm wanting to add some color in the 40s&w that is engraved on it. So my question is what is the best paint for doing this? Has to be able to stand up to heat And friction.

I used black fingernail polish.

So the other day i polished the barrel, after some usefull advice from this thread i decided to use a paint pen from my wifes crafting stuff to highlight the 40s&w on top of barrel. it was a blue Pentel "Outline Marker". took it out to the range today and put 100 rounds through it. broke it down cleaned it using plain old remington oil and it held up very well. here are some picks of the coloring on the 40s&w on top of barrel and of a side profile pic of the polished barrel
