Good guns, what dash number? With the mags and accessories seems like a fair price.

Most people will advise you to get a -1 or -2 since "word " has it there was a feed issue with the clips that was resolved also an ejection issue as well. But don't hold me to that as I read a post by a 4516 owner who said his was flawless in operation. SO---- You might want to do a search on 4516 via this forum to gather any past posts on this gun series for the best and MOST accurate info. Again what I've said is "what I've heard" others report. I myself have a 4516-1. Only one issue in 500 rounds is that the slide failed to lock back when empty. This I "heard" was why S&W went BACK to a dual coil slide return spring as they originally had in the first model 4516.
Hope this helped.

2 for sale

I know of 2 for sale right now. One is a NIB 4516-2@650 another is a used for 475 in very good condition. If you were interested I can send you the links.

Thanks for the info, after checking the guns for sale on the forum,$600.00 seems a little high.I had a 6906 in 9mm years ago but I was wondering how the compact 4516 series hold up in 45acp. Again thanks to all.

4516 Tank Gun

Most people who own one swear they'll never part with it. The gun in ALL stainless steel will out live all of us. Many policeman carried this gun and it is a smaller version of the 4506 full size and the 4566 mid size. I again urge you to do a Forum search (right hand side of the main page) on 4516 and get all the info on this model, I had one for a month now and am seriously considering getting another one as the price just keeps going up due to the ALL metal construction, which will NEVER be made again and the fact NOBODY sells one after they have one, Those who have sold theirs keep saying they regret having let it go. And really no more of them that are out there for sale you can resell it if you really don't like it. But I carry mine now over the 642 revolver and the ,40 sigma. I like the Punch it carries.

I have a 4516-2 thats in very good condition. I think I payed about 500.oo including tax. It came with rubber hogue grips. I ordered some factory grips and recently replacedthem with some hogue tulipwood grips. Man the 4516-2 is a beauty with those wood grips.

I purchased a 4516-1 this summer with 3 mags for 590.00. I am extremely happy with this gun and now use it as my everyday CCW.

Congrats!

The 4516 is the finest all steel compact made, by anyone, IMO of course.

The only 45 I like better is the PC Shorty 45. Same pistol basically, just a little lighter.

$600 for a LNIB 4516 is not a bad price. I paid right at that around five years back for my LNIB 4516-3. It has just over 4000 rounds through it. Looks like new.

Shoots like a laser too. Last spring I qualified with it for on/off duty with a 98 day and 100 night score.

I'll never part with mine. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI.

I use our duty round. Winchester Ranger 230 grain JHP. My 4516 eats it like candy. ;) Very accurate with the Ranger too.

Good round with very impressive street performance. Winchester has reboxed the Ranger line for non LEO sales. Look for Winchester PDX 230 grain 45. It's the same stuff in a different colored box.

I have also used Speer Gold Dot, and Remington Golden Sabre. Both good performing rounds as well. Regards 18DAI.

$600 is a little steep. I paid under $500 for mine. Like everyone else stated, they are a very sturdy and reliable .45. It would take a lot to get rid of mine.

I paid $329 for my police trade-in 4516-1. Like a lot of police trade-ins it appeared to be carried a lot and shot little. There was nothing that a little Scotch Brite pad couldn't remedy. It's a truly great gun. The only issue that I have had was a slide lock-back issue with one mag.
