I was watching vice the other day and noticed that unlike all of the other 645's out there crockett's had this black insert for the front sight on it instead of the standard red/orange

so did a gunsmith just knock out and put a black insert in for him or was this actually an option from smith and wesson?

or rather did someone just put modeling paint on it as it seems like its gone back to orange here

If memory serves, some of the early 645s did have a black insert. Possibly they got one of the first pistols out there.
The later pistols had the red insert. They probably had more than one 645 in the armory for the show too. Dale

maybe I am at the wrong angle.....Crockett looks left eye dominant in the first picture.

handgun appears centered on his body but his head is leaning right.

I am left eye dominant and like a black sight too!

Hmm so it wasnt an aftermarket deal then, it came from the factory like that from the getgo.

I'm not sure with that scene, they might have been purely focusing on quick drawing the guns on the bad guys there and not focusing on the front sights.

gotta wonder though just how many were out there like that, I mean I havent seen any besides his.
