Smith and Wesson Model 28 Pickup

My 4" 28-2 is my most accurate revolver and is almost always in the range bag.

If you enjoy yours half as much as I do mine you will be VERY happy with it!

It will be accompanying me to any and all range visits. Very accurate revolver!

Beautiful job refinishing the grips. How did you do that? What did you use for the final finish?

Really a beautiful gun!

Really a beautiful gun!

I used a CitriStrip to strip off the awful polyurethane that was on the grips originally. This required alot of elbow grease with a brush to get that **** off (That is why Polyurethane should never be used on stocks or grips, or anything gun related).

After that I sanded the grips to remove what was left of the polyurethane. Tru Oil was applied after the grips were cleaned with mineral spirits. One coat of True Oil was applied on the entire grips than the second and third coat was applied to everything but the checkering. Steel Wool was used between coats.

Plutonius, you did a super job on refinishing the grips, they look great.

Technically it was a combination of work from my brother and I. Took alot of elbow grease to get that nasty polyurethane off those things. The actual tru oil application was the easy part.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! :o

These N frames are really growing on me. I need a Model 29 now! :)

"I need a Model 29 now!"

You mean you don't have one?
Correct that ASAP! :)

This might be heresy, but this is my first Smith and Wesson revolver and only the second revolver I have. Things will be changed :)

Now if anyone would like to donate a Model 29 to my donation basket :eek::p
