I have a Python barrel and several donor Model 19s. Who is still doing these conversions?

You might ask Clark Custom.

You will want to get a rear sight assy. for a 2" gun. That will mate up nicely with the Python barrel rib. The 4" and longer barrel rear sight tang will leave an unsightly gap between it and the barrel rib.

If your barrel is the older kind with a 2 pin front sight, it will need to be re threaded. If it's the later one with 1 pin front sight, it will have the right thread pitch.

The underlug will need to be milled out some for the larger diameter ejector rod of a Smith.

Smythons are cool.

I have had Alex Hamilton at Ten Ring Precision in San Antonio do two of them for me. The rear sight suggestion above is well worth it, although not easy to find.

Sandy Garrett at Norther Virginia Gunworks built my Smython

Here’s a Bill Davis one for comparison. I bought it from a retired Sacramento County Deputy.

So the bottom of the Python barrel at the forcing cone has to have material milled off like a K frame barrel?

Frank Glenn in Phoenix built mine a couple years ago.

My local smith, Craig Maraviov in Woodland, CA still builds them. Craig worked at Bill Davis's shop and did a number of Smolts for me over the years, as well as a couple of Cougers. He'll build them on K, L or N frames. Last time I talked with him he had a number of barrels and a few of the longer 2" rear sights.
