We only got 2" here before it turned to sleet. I started in to work, but the office decided to close before I got there.

Wish they had called before I left the house. It was REAL slickery out on US 21.

Spent an hour with the snow blower this morning early. Let Momma take my Jeep to work. Then I went back out about 1:00 for another hour. Took the snow machine up the side street, then another couple of blocks up to the 2 churches. Did the one's walks, the walks and part of the parking lot on the other. We're supposed to have a Christmas party there tonight. I think it was wasted effort, they'll probably cancel.

Came home a different way, ruining the soft white blanket with blown snow. These first few times a sidewalk gets cleared, it contains all the summers gravel and dirt. The chute pitches dirty stuff out to the side.

Now I've got a nice warm fire going. Yes, some walnut and a big slab of hackberry. Burns good but kind of stinks. I'm heading down to the floor to visit the gray cat. She sleeps in front of the fire. To her, its like a sunbeam even at night.

And by 10 AM this morning it was snowing hard here in Tidewater! We waited until after 12:30 to leave the office and it was slow going to get home, roads were a slick mess. And then as soon as I get home, it turns to sleet and now rain. Probably going to freeze tonight and make it tough tomorrow. No one here knows how to drive in snow, they are still driving fast, texting and talking on the phone.

The albino brain chiggers stayed away today, but our deck and cars are covered with ice.

Y'all get so excited by a little dustin'! Won't hear any complaining from here - we took our 18" and -25F in stride....quit yer whinin'!

At 6am this morning we could see everything covered by snow - thinly coated. By noon it was all gone and it was raining. No shoveling to do but I only went out of the house to get the mail.

In our part of Virginia we got about 2" of snow, then a very light covering of sleet. Not too bad, as I was expecting much worse. But then I remember that we moved here from Wisconsin specifically to get away from that stuff!

I got the {1" to 2" by morning and up to 1" more by 11AM.} Look, I measure stuff for a living and if there wasn't 7" when I got home, I must be DREAMING!!!!

When I left my other place in Marion, NY I had about 3 feet on the ground. Got back to FLA and it went down to 26 degrees over night on Monday.

Two nights ago it was 18 degrees. When I got off work today I took my dog for a romp wearing shorts and a t-shirt (me, not the dog) and I broke a pretty good sweat. It'll freeze again in a couple of days.

They say it's going to rain tonight. Hope so; we're only up to about 6 inches this year, instead of our usual 7 or more. Hven't seen snow for a couple of years.

I don't miss those days of shoveling deep snow in VA.

I do miss the entertainment of going to the grocery store the night before a snow storm and watching crazed people hauling off all the bread and milk.

I'm back in San Antonio where it was a boring 76 today.

It's warming up here today--hit 17 degrees--had 4 snows so far--16" total. Hope you Suthners can handle it.:):):):):)

I live in N.W. Indiana, about 15 miles east of where I live they get "lake effect" snow off lake Michigan. I got 5-6" of snow over the weekend and the next two counties east were declared disaster areas because of 2-3 feet. Anyway, weather here is perfect for falling on your butt. Snows over night, melts a little the next day, then temp drops and freezes over. I took a flyer on that stuff and wound up in the hospital a couple years ago. I bought a couple sets of strap on ice cleats that work pretty good.

We got 5" the night before last. I took the Jeep out the yesterday morning and had a blast driving around town breaking trail. The city cleaned the windrows out of the street this morning and the FBO got the runways all blown free.
