At this moment, it is once again snowing

Possibly another 3 inches.

This Saturday, we are expecting Blizzard conditions going into Sunday night, possibly 14 inches more, with winds up to 65 MPH.

A big thank you to the fine state of Vermont.

National Guard troops from Vermont are set to arrive in Massachusetts today, helping dig towns out from record breaking snow totals.

Over the past three weeks, the state has been hit hard with snow, with some places getting over seven feet.

National Guard troops were deployed Tuesday to help clear out the snow, but more help is needed.

Vermont's Governor Peter Shumlin said sending his own troops to assist is the neighborly thing to do.

"Let's remember that we have been through our own struggles here during Irene we reached out to a number of neighboring states to give us help from their guard member when we were in trouble so we're delighted to be able to return some of the favor," he said.

What occurs to me is the stress on homeowners who have snow laden roof without the wherewithal to remove it. The home is such a huge investment and it is possible that an act of god, in insurance company terms, may devastate financially hundreds of families.

I remember snow....last time it snowed here (13 inches) was in 1985!

nice here today,went for a little five mile hike in the foothills.Carrying my Yaktrax in my pack and did a feet north,head south flying walendaon the ice under the snow [emoji57].Whiskey and ibuprofen with my burrito tonight lol.

On Saturday...may go and scoop about three feet. Then come back inside, wait till Sunday, then go back out and scoop another three feet...

Same thing for Monday...At that rate, you'll be done before you know it, with out giving your self a trip to the cardiac unit.

Believe me, just being retired is sort of a relief, don't have to be anywhere, I feel sorry for the ones that head out for work and return home every day in this mess.

No matter where we live in the US, we all have some sort of thing to deal with, this baby is ours.

Cold is the word for the next couple days. The temp dropped like arjay on the ice as the front rolled in today.

I just got in from walking the dogs and it's bitter and the wind is starting to howl. Break out the scarf and hat labworm it's headed your way my friend.

Way back when I was a kid, you know, when the earth was flat, as I tell my 20 year old son, we just called it "winter". Days were short, it was cold, and it snowed. Now, it is comical watching the weather geeks, newsies, and frankly, anyone who stands in front of a microphone, repeat, ad nauseam, that it is cold, and it's snowing. If you love the 4 seasons, like we have here in the Commonwealth, well then, you just deal with it. You shovel, plow, drive and generally make due. Hale and hearty folks, we New Englanders. Retirement certainly helps, to be sure, but lugging firewood has become my new daily grind. So, another foot is coming friday-saturday, and it will sit atop the 4 ft we already have. So be it. Haul the wood, plow the driveway, and settle back and maybe the NFL Network will run the Superbowl again. Life is good.

The Guard was in my town today, helping out.
I don't know what state unit they were but thank God for those folks.

Labworm I feel your pain. We don't have that much snow here but it is going to be real cold over the weekend. The forecast is for highs of 8 and lows below zero until next Thursday. We did have a winter like yours end of 78 to early 79,lots of snow a few county roads had to opened with heavy equipment. Stay warm and safe.
