National Guard troops from Vermont are set to arrive in Massachusetts today, helping dig towns out from record breaking snow totals.
Over the past three weeks, the state has been hit hard with snow, with some places getting over seven feet.
National Guard troops were deployed Tuesday to help clear out the snow, but more help is needed.
Vermont's Governor Peter Shumlin said sending his own troops to assist is the neighborly thing to do.
"Let's remember that we have been through our own struggles here during Irene we reached out to a number of neighboring states to give us help from their guard member when we were in trouble so we're delighted to be able to return some of the favor," he said.
