Snow Snow And More Snow

With more slow headed toward New England, it's quite obvious Mother Nature bet on the Seahawks to win.

If you think back when all this bad weather started, I'm putting the blame on the air they let out of the football's. :D

Sunday is going to be a real hoot. They've upgraded it to 18-24" of winter fun:

.SUNDAY...SNOW. AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW. SNOW MAY BE HEAVY AT TIMES IN
THE MORNING. VISIBILITY ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.
ADDITIONAL HEAVY SNOW ACCUMULATION. WINDY WITH HIGHS AROUND 11.
NORTH WINDS 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH. CHANCE OF SNOW
NEAR 100 PERCENT. WIND CHILL VALUES AS LOW AS 18 BELOW.

Well, it looks like this next one is going to reach down here. It's showing 70 on Saturday, high of 50 on Sunday and Ice on Monday. I don't mind until it starts breaking my oak trees.

To the original poster, I feel your pain. We got it last year here in north central Illinois (just one of many reasons why I'm moving out in 3 months) Our yearly average where I currently live is 18 inches, last year we got 88 inches. So far this year we are at 35 inches, so I'm betting there will be more before winter ends.

The neighbor and I were chatting last night and he mentioned that the guy ( I don't get along with) on the other side of my driveways wood pile seems to be getting smaller and smaller. I told him no its just the snow is getting deeper around it.... I guess my snow blower is doing its job very well. Stay warm guys spring is just 35 days away..

What occurs to me is the stress on homeowners who have snow laden roof without the wherewithal to remove it. The home is such a huge investment and it is possible that an act of god, in insurance company terms, may devastate financially hundreds of families.

Here, the biggest roof-snow problem is ice dams. If nothing is done about it, the end result is water going through your ceiling. Last year, I roof raked, and roof raked, and roof raked. This year, we have a snow drought, which is fine by me.

Snow, yea, we got some.

We know exactly what you guys are talking about. We're expecting a couple of inches of snow early next week.I'm on my way to the market now before the shelves get stripped bare...:rolleyes:

Sorry but I couldn't resist the pun.I'm sure you guys can handle whatever is thrown at you but it certainly must get old after awhile.

Any polar bear or penguin sightings?? :)

Yeah, I'm in N.E. Massachusetts, expecting at least another foot this Saturday/Sunday with high winds. The weather guy has his eye on another storm for mid week but doesn't want to talk about it.

Can't reach the roof in the back to rake the snow so gotta pay the bucks to have someone climb up and shovel. The ice dams can raelly cause havoc with the leaks.

Snow, yea, we got some.

A tough New Englander;) What's that flamingo doing in the picture?:D

I'd say you have a little snow around the house.

I guess Maine is going to get hammered, but them folks as always, can handle anything thrown their way.

Went out to run some errands, what a mess, but I did get back home alright. The normal run would have taken me roughly 45 minutes, today it was 90 minutes.

No plans of moving around till next Wednesday.;)

Just received a message, a PA road crew is on it's way to help us out.

The Maine Army National Guard is sending nearly 50 soldiers along with heavy equipment to assist Massachusetts in snow removal, the guard announced Thursday.

Front end loaders with crews from Connecticut

Two giant snow melters borrowed from New York City

;):D:)

sun shineing most of the morning. thoughts of spring only several weeks away helping against cabin fever. road crews from uniontown pa. packed up yesterday and are on the road to Ma. pittsburgh getting small storm sat. morning, w/ high wind warnings. the winds are hard on these old bones. a kromer hat, boots w/ the slip on studs, a core vest- really works against the winds, gortex gloves, almost makes the time out side enjoyable. oh yea a new snow blower.

Wow! I don't know how they could find the time since they're so busy down here!
Oh.....that's right we've only had a couple dustings and they have enough salt down that will last till spring! ;)

I really, really feel bad for you guys, I really do! It's cold as hell here though and I'm stuck looking at dirty snow!

Weather extremes is part of global warming.
They had to cancel the global warming meeting at Yale University this weekend because of the weather.
It was 0 degrees here on the thermometer outside the kitchen window this morning. It had warmed up to 14 by 2 p.m. We haven't had quite as much snow here in western MA as Worcester and Boston, but we're close. I'm getting good at fixing the snowblower.

Yup, you guessed it, a blizzard in progress dumping more white stuff in the area.

Listening to WBZ radio, Ipswich MA has already received 20 inches at this moment, the storm should end sometime this afternoon.

More good news, maybe a little more snow on Tuesday/Wenesday.

Winter was pleasant until February rolled in.:(

Hang in there gang, be careful when outside and take your time.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't get what you were expecting,:) those weather men are never right, I couldn't tell you how many times I've shoveled 15" of partly cloudy, we have about 8" now but the winds are no where near what they said they would be but I'm not complaining, the snow is coming down pretty hard at least is a fine dry snow not that heavy wet stuff.

We've been dumped on all the others this year. This is the first pass we have gotten and boy is it a welcome one.

We got snow during the night, don't know how much but it's drifting!
Getting ready to go take a look and start cleaning it up !
I know it's cold because I hear the wind howling! :eek:Gotta have my coffee first!;)

Take your time, it's not going anywhere. :)

Off I go, start the car, a light cleanup for about 15 minutes, then wait until things come to a halt this afternoon.

The two young guys may come by with their snow machine to help us Seniors out. I always get them a $50.00 gift card from Dunkin Donuts, wasn't born yesterday ya know.:)

Why am I thinking about that movie? Dr. Zhivago?
